How much do you pay for young DD haircut?

My 9yo needs a haircut, only really a trim and it’s roughly £10 but the last place I took her (a salon) did a little trim, went over it with straighteners and charged £22.

the place we are going today said if she wants it washed & dried it will be £26.

I find it a bit steep. If she really wanted the whole shebang, I would pay that as a treat.

is it just me though or is that really expensive? Wash, trim, dry= £26. It’s not like she’s having loads of products or a blow out.

Just wondering whether I’m out of touch, how much do others pay? We are midlands.

I pay the same as you’ve been quoted for my daughters bob with a fringe. Still takes about 30-40 mins for them to cut.

I took my 3 year old dd for a trim that took about 5 mins max and they charged me £20!! Just a haridressers in our village, I thought that was very expensive!

I also pay £26 for a wash cut & blow dry and they will straighten or curl it if she wants.

Some local salons won't do children as it takes them as much time as an adult's appointment but can't charge adult prices because people won't pay it.

My dd usually gets a dry cut and that's cheaper than wash, cut and dry. They spray the hair with water instead

We pay £22 for a wash and blow dry for my DD (8). Seems to be the going rate around here (East Sussex).

£10 for a trim for 10yo dd. I wouldn't do the whole wash and blow dry unless it was a special occasion.

Digimoor · 23/09/2022 16:04

£16 at a chain salon

yikesanotherbooboo · 23/09/2022 16:53

I used to cut DD's hair myself or take her to a barber with her DBs.

DS kid cut (short back & sides) is £10 so for a wash/dry/etc that sounds fair enough?
I think £10 is expensive though especially when you have multiple kids so I feel for you!

Until at high school was £10 at same salon I go to. Now is £25 cut& blowdry but as a teen the haircut is more than a basic trim.

My DD is 13, and I last paid £30. But she has long hair and wanted layers

I'm a hairdresser and have hairdressing friends. I went to ones house last week just as she was finishing a client. Client had a colour, cut blow dry and straighten and the lady left £40 on the side as payment. We are inthe same area as you. I told my friend she is too cheap though but a colour takes up your time to do.

Oops wrong post!!!!

TolkiensFallow · 21/11/2022 18:00

Just get a dry cut.

Magicmagician · 21/11/2022 18:01

For DD aged 9 £15 for full restyle and cut (from a long bob to a pixie cut). I rounded it to £20 as she’d taken ages over it!
