Ball gown- old school glamour 🤩

I’m very excited as we’ve been invited to a fancy-pants ball with a theme of old school glamour! But I don’t have anything to wear (well, I have one dress that would do but it’s a bit boring). I need some ideas for something fabulous please! Realistically budget is up to about £200 but any suggestions appreciated for inspiration.
The challenge is that I am 5’2” and petite in build -although I do have boobs/hips/bum so not straight up and down. Cool to neutral colouring so can get away with a soft gold but not a bright one. Would love suggestions!

@Sunshineandgin is it too trashy do you think? The way they’ve styled it makes it look very obvious and in your face, but it’s a lot more subtle in real life. Definitely not as booby!

I think if you style your hair in an up do and wear classic jewellery pieces then you can make it work for the look you want

Ah you are very tactful @Sunshineandgin I suspect what you want to say is yes, it’s too trashy but you are too polite. Bugger. Back to the drawing board I think!

thanks @snorezzzzzz, that’s pretty but a little too frilly for me. Sorry, I’m such a fusspot. I think I have an idea in my head of what I want but either I can’t find it or it won’t actually suit me. This link isn’t mine but it’s Similar to the one I have already. Mine is a bit plainer and a little tight across the hips but I have a few weeks to sort that out. Is it too dull?!

If you want a bit of glitz I think Adrianna Papell dresses have that without looking cheap... the cape might be a bit ott though

I don’t think the navy will make you feel entirely glamorous. The frilly one snorezzzz suggested would look stunning on. It’s actually quite simple, tbh. (I have worn LOTS of ball gowns for my work and am short and petite like you.)

So…. I think I’ve found a dress that matches what I had in my head - not too expensive either. Do you think that works? Much better than the booby sparkly one anyway 😂

If you love the dress you have but it's a bit plain why not spend on accessories? Glam it up with old school dress clips - these French paste ones on ebay for example

Ebay - here meniut - so many worn-once bridesmaids dresses. Get something floaty in navy, and then you’ll have enough budget to get glam necklace and pro hair on the day
