What style handbag for these circumstances?

Looking for help please as I'm a bit clueless about this kind of thing.
Most of my time is spent doing sports or walks with rucksacks etc or very casual and I'm guilty of sticking wallet and phone in coat pockets which can look awful.
Obviously sometimes a handbag would be useful. I have a couple that used to be my mums but I feel they are a bit dated now unfortunately.
What style of handbag would you recommend that won't date really quickly as I don't use them often I want it too last and ideally can be used for casual occasions and fancier ones, so something that would go with most things.
Style suggestions and links would be appreciated.
And ideas of cheaper shops that are still nice would be ideal.

Does it need to be fashionable in 5 years time, why not get a bag you’ll enjoy using for the next few years? Your needs and tastes may change in 5 years.

I have this bag and it works as a cross body bag, a casual clutch and has a second scrap for a wristlet. I can easily carry my phone, keys, cards and poop bags (poop bags are for the dog not me). The leather is so soft and it looks a little more expensive than it is.

@YumYummy I kind of picked 5 years out of thin air buy basically i hate waste. I won't use it a lot so want something classic. I hate getting rid of things if they haven't been used much as I feel it's wasteful.
Thank you for suggestions I like a few of the cross bodys and the bags @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie linked are lovely too. Might have a look next time I'm in tkmaxx see if there's anything I fancy.
