Clarks and Fat Face for me too. They have shot up in price.

OakPine · 17/09/2022 21:33

Boden. £90 for an acrylic jumper is too much. Dresses are £100+

I'm back at M&S after a long time. I find them good for plain basics, good price and good quality.

MagicMatilda · 17/09/2022 21:37

Agree with Boden, prices are getting silly. I only buy with a good discount code which luckily come up a lot!

Sweaty Betty, I’ll only buy in the sale too now as I know everything comes down so much.

Huntswomanonthemove · 17/09/2022 21:38

Heinz

Salamander44 · 17/09/2022 21:41

Sezane: used to be my absolute favourite and juuuuuust about affordable but they’ve lost their way lately (too many synthetics - I’m not paying £100+ for a polyester blend cardigan) and they put up their prices just as the quality was going down 🙄

I’m increasingly buying second hand generally, for quality and price reasons!

SimonaRazowska · 17/09/2022 21:44

Baukjen has gone silly pricing

Jigsaw too

hush as well

i have started shopping at H&M again 😁

mummabubs · 17/09/2022 21:44

Honestly, most of my previous usual go tos. Oasis and Warehouse, quality went down hill but price shot up. Ditto Joules, ditto TopShop and to some extent ditto SilkFred own brand. I find now it's really hard to find good quality that's not ridiculously priced, so I tend to only buy in the sale from 'better' brands, and even then it's still more than I'd usually want to pay! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Summerhillsquare · 17/09/2022 21:49

Anything in Fenwick's. I can't afford to shop there now and I am not poor by any means.

Aintnosupermum · 17/09/2022 22:48

Places like GAP that have massive reductions, you just wait for the next week for it to be on sale. Boden and Clarks just don’t work for me. Clothing looks ok but it’s always an odd pattern or the material isn’t great. I saw a lovely sweater skirt but the material was so cheap I instantly disliked it. Clark’s shoes are just frumpy on me. I’m sure they are lovely on other people feet!

I have to wear a suit for work. I really do not have much choice. Its £500-600 or £800-1000 for a dress suit. I don’t like wearing skirts and I’m not wearing trouser suits as I ruin the knees in them quickly. The fashion for over 40 is terrible with flowerly, floaty dresses at midi length. I ended up buying a dress and jacket at LK Bennet for £550 because I had nothing to wear. When I come home from work I close the door and strip off to prevent the kids from staining my outfit. I’m hoping jigsaw expands their suits again. Nothing has come up in the sale.

OneFrenchEgg · 17/09/2022 22:57

Mulberry
Penhaligon
L'occitane
Body Shop

Rantypanties · 17/09/2022 23:11

I’m really hoping Fatface change up their marketing strategy and do more offers during the year. Their clothes have become far too expensive!

Mint Velvet always used to be expensive but now it’s just crazy expensive for polyester!!

MinglingFlamingo · 17/09/2022 23:41

I'm looking at alternatives to what I get from body shop. But it's finding it and not wasting money in the process as it's not quite right for whatever reason

DramaAlpaca · 17/09/2022 23:58

Boden. High prices, made worse by being in the EU so the prices are even higher. I don't mind too much though as their stuff is awful these days.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 18/09/2022 06:37

Boden and Hush
I agree with M&S

SandysMam · 18/09/2022 06:46

Beauty wise I used to use only Clinique but forgot my toiletries on holiday and brought some Superdrug naturally radiant for the week. It’s honestly the nicest skincare I have ever used and my skin looks so good for switching. Not to mention the small fortune I have saved!

Riverlee · 18/09/2022 07:19

White Stuff - had the eureka moment in the summer when dh wanted some new shorts, and was walking past White Stuff store at the time, and wandered in. If I recall correctly, they were £50 each. Brought two pairs for less than that from Next which has serviced him well all summer in a similar style.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/09/2022 07:35

I really don't know where to shop anymore, but not Boden. I seem to get a lot from Sainsbury's!

I only buy shoes from Clark's because they are one of the few people who to a women's size 9.

QuentininQuarantino · 18/09/2022 07:39

Definitely Boden, I used to have so much of it and appreciated the colours and quality but it’s gone silly now with 100£+ for polyester jumpers.

I’m also in the EU and they put higher prices on their EU website post Brexit, and sent me a birthday voucher which wasn’t valid for the EU.

I used to save for big shopping sprees when visiting home (uk) but in recent years I’m just wondering boarded up high streets only to find garish polyester dresses, and only ever buy anything in tk maxx these days.
