This shop sells Reima (Finnish brand) clothing, never tried the online shop itself but have a Reima coat for my daughter and it's excellent. www.littleadventureshop.co.uk/collections/reima-kids-clothing

Iโ€™ve got this for Dd www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1036933001.html
And this one for DS www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1004687001.html

Iโ€™ve always managed to get lovely rain coats from Sainsburys.

I bought cheap but good packaway jackets from Decathlon for my two. I find supermarket and high street ones often say showerproof rather than waterproof. For really high waterproof factor I like Villervalla, they do a thinner one and a thicker winter coat which are amazing quality. DS1 is on his second year of his and they still look nearly new. But a big investment, I wouldn't be able to afford it this winter but could last year.

Tesco have some durable marvel ones for ยฃ20

Boden do a good raincoat for kids, itโ€™s not too heavy. I think itโ€™s called a fishermanโ€™s jacket.

Mini rodini (pico are the best) and Molo do fantastic (waterproof!) rain coats. They are pricey though! I canโ€™t afford new ones for the kids this year.

I had this problem with ds, got one from trespass in the end, any of the outdoor/camping/ type shops will have them

Love Polarn O Pyret raincoats (in fact all their outdoor clothing) for kids - I think they go up to about age 12. Theyโ€™re not cheap but they do regular offers and can often be found for good prices on eBay - DD age 4 has had 3 or 4 of them, all but one bought second hand. They are great quality so last really well through multiple children.

Seconding Decathlon. I love that place. It makes all manner of different sports, and the outdoors, far more accessible for people who aren't rich.

These are brilliant - properly waterproof and fab quality. I always bought the Piuddleflex ones when my DS was small because they're beautifully soft.

Mol1628 · 15/09/2022 11:06

I like the regatta ones. They go up to about age 14.

GailTheFish · 15/09/2022 11:07

Iโ€™ve always been a fan of Hatley raincoats - am struggle to get DS to give up one that changes colour in the rain even though itโ€™s two sizes too smallโ€ฆ

I would recommend Kuling, the brand stocks all sorts of outdoor rain gear in coordinated sets (including boots and waterproof trainers) plus you can usually find them reduced on the AlexandAlexa site.

Another good, more budget friendly recommendation is H&M, their rain jackets are bomb proof and often come with matching salopettes available, however Iโ€™ve tended to find whilst the overall sizing runs big, the hoods are not as generous so we end up with wet noses.

I had to go somewhere this morning and I went past a Matalan. Yay!! Score!! ๐Ÿ˜
