Looking to invest in a pair of decent country boots for autumn/winter.

Budget £150-£200. Waterproof a must

Any suggestions?

I have a pair of Dubarry's which were really expensive (they were a gift) and I actually prefer a pair of Dublin river boots I've had for years. The Dublins are more in your price range, I've worn mine to death and will be replacing them if/when they wear out. Would definitely recommend them.

I love my dubarry boots - have had a few pairs over the year. Currently have the shorter ones (Roscommon I think).

What activities are you going to be doing in them? That will help people recommend - quite different if you want to ride in them for instance or if you're looking for dog walking boots.

Following this! I’ve been looking at some Ariats, Dubarrys definitely out of my price range unfortunately. Had a pair of Rydales for about £70, and they’ve lasted years - sadly no longer as waterproof as they once were.

Bareback boots. I bought some last year and can't wait to put them on again! Waterproof and so comfortable. I bought Quebec ones in brown.

Thanks all

Will be mostly country dog walking. So need to be robust. Should have particularly said don't keen on true 'wellies' so things like muck boots not for me.

Thanks for all suggestions so far!

Ariat H20 All Terrain or Toggi Canyons here, both unbelievably comfy

CeliaCanth · 11/09/2022 07:46

Do you want long boots or ankle boots?

if long, Dublin River boots. For short, I’d recommend the Ariat waterproof range - Telluride or All Terrain.

Caboyswood are great, and much cheaper than Dubarry etc.

My dubarry's are 10 years old and still as good as new (if I cleaned them). I wear them to dog walk/do horses/just get around(semi rural) roughly 6 months of the year - so daily wear.

Cost per wear is minuscule. Literally the best and most worn purchase ever. They are so comfy, warm, waterproof and grippy.

If you can stretch to them you won't retreat it. I can see mine going strong for another 5-10 years!

I have had Toggi, Dublin, Ariat and Dubarry boots and none of them I would walk my dogs in for any length of time! My legs and feet would be in bits. They are more suited for country fairs, shows, outdoor events ect (in my opinion)

For walking I wear scarpa walking boots which were £150 approx, waterproof and you can walk for miles 😊

However if you do decide to buy I loved my Ariat Windermere boots, they were the most lightweight of all of the above for walking

Le Chameux Jameson boots are lovely.

Look at Tuffa boots - by far the most comfortable boots I have had ( and mine get trashed with daily horse duties , attending events etc)
