What brands are your go to

I'm really interested in your 'go to' brands, particularly if you are mid 30s and petite, I'm in a massive rut and want to start sorting my wardrobe and replacing key pieces with higher quality than I currently have, so prepared to take this slowly and/or buy second hand but just keen to find some good places to look!
I tend to need petite brands only for trousers/skirts/occasionally dresses

I don’t find it easy to stick to a few brands. There seems little connection between cost and quality. I record everything I buy and this year I have had successful purchases from:

Esprit (jeans/trousers)
M&S (various)
Stradivarius (shirts)
Matalan (basics and accessories)

I’m mid 30s & my wardrobe seems to consist mostly of Zara, Mint Velvet & H&M. A bit of a weird mix.

32

Designer - Micheal kors, ted baker and Vivienne Westwood, French connection

High street- river island, house of Fraser, next (lipsy tho feeling a bit old for that now), coast

I am obsessed with river island at the moment especially the more formal looks

VividlyReneredLandscape · 11/09/2022 00:08

Michael Kors, Ted Baker and French Connection are all high street.

How are they designer?

Matter of opinion considering MK and ted baker are still designer lead 😉. It's not all about the super brands!

Rixo, finery London, cos for work wear and smarter pieces.

Uniqlo, M&S, and next for basics

mynameiscalypso · 11/09/2022 08:47

Reiss for workwear. M&S for a lot of basics (jeans, t shirts, knitwear).

1994girl · 11/09/2022 08:48

I'm 28. Matalan, Tesco and Asda.

gingertoast · 11/09/2022 08:51

I did a major wardrobe overhaul several years back, a change of style and spending more money per item. It was a risk as i used to change my style often, but i find I'm really happy with my choices and as a result i shop less and I love getting dressed now.

Squashpocket · 11/09/2022 09:17

Recently managed to get things from:

Hush (dresses, tops)
& other stories (jeans)
Jigsaw (workwear)
Cos (t-shirts and jumpers)
Ralph Lauren (shirts)

So basically anything likely to be found in the women's section of John Lewis. I'm not very adventurous 😂

Timetomove22 · 11/09/2022 09:28

Thank you everyone, this is really helpful and giving me a good base to start from. I think I need to get out shopping more and identify the gaps in my wardrobe/be brutal about getting rid of things and then start with the brands you've all suggested

River Island
Mint velvet
Tu
Tesco
Reiss
Oliver bonas
Superdry
M and s
John lewis
Holland n cooper
Niche sports shops

RosetteNebula · 11/09/2022 10:30

I'm in my early 30s and petite. I mostly buy from Urban Outfitters, EMP, Boohoo and I wear a lot of leisurewear too so the typical sports brands too. I'm starting to worry I'm a bit old for Urban Outfitters though as any time I go into the shop it's full of students and I feel like a fossil.

3WildOnes · 11/09/2022 10:41

Whistles, & other stories & H&M

LookdeepintotheParka · 11/09/2022 10:52

I also need petite for trousers and jeans etc but not tops. I don't buy anything expensive unless in sales. Can be hard to find things all in one store so I usually shop at:

Next (trousers/jeans)
Mint Velvet and Hush for tops in the sale
TK Maxx for knitwear, shirts tops
Basics and other bits from Tesco/M&S/John Lewis
Occasionally Fat Face/White Stuff

Wish there was a go to shop but there isn't - I like shopping but find it an effort to find stuff! Closest I get is probably TK Maxx on a good day but I don't think their stock hasn't been as good in recent years.

RosetteNebula · 11/09/2022 11:36

Oh yes @LookdeepintotheParka I forgot about TK Maxx! Love that shop.
