I used to be wise and avid - now menopausal and lost it

10 years ago I used to be part of the wise and avid threads here so anyone who can remember. I used to have a reasonable sense of style, knew what suited me and could find something on any shopping trip.

fast forward 10 years. I am 45, menopausal and gained weight through HRT all around my middle that I cannot loose.

I am a nurse, the pandemic has absolutely aged me.

I look nothing like my former self. I have no clue what to wear, can’t even be bothered to try stuff on. I look aged, frumpy and very tired.

any help ?

Cut out sugar and alcohol, and do exercise every day.

I hear you. At60 I've got big boobs, a lumpy middle and even if I diet those bits don't shift . I make sure I have great hair and skin and wear low cut good quality ribbed T shirt dresses with a plain black good quality hoodie and leggings plus glittery sandals or good boots. Works for most of the year!!

How about trying Stitch Fix or similar, or getting a personal shopper appointment?

I’m personally not mad for jeans though I do wear them. After a couple of years of coveting I’ve recently bought a pair of these in khaki. I love their exaggerated proportions.

I ❤️ those jeans too - but they are £200! I just couldn't justify spending that amount of money on one thing. I wish I could.

Marks and spencer Lily slim legs are good. Very stretchy! Beware though - no pair seems to fit the same!

Ah jeez I’m not sure if that’s uplifting or depressing! My baby was under 1 when that thread started. Now she’s 13 with far more fashion sense than me!
