Fluffy hair

My hair is fine and thinning. I have to straighten it if I want to look vaguely presentable when I wear it down. I have a set if GHDs but they are a few years old now and I've noticed that even after straightening, my hair becomes fluffy very quickly, and not straight.

Can anyone recommend straighteners that would give me a more sleek appearance which actually lasts? Or products to help? Frizz Ease makes no difference.

Argan oil products are your friend. I use a finishing spray from Superdrug, Argan oil Hairy Therapy. There are other products in the range.

cloud nine straighteners do the job on my hair. If I didn’t wash mine every other day my hair would remain sleek even in humid or damp conditions. I have a GHD oracle and that’s the same (for curls). In terms of products I’d research the pro brands. I use kerastase purple cream in a bottle and the oil for coloured hair. There will be loads of you tube reviews on these type of products. The other thing to look at is how you wash and dry your hair as this may help too in keeping your hair smooth. The other alternative is to consider a keratin straight process at the salon. I’ve had a few of these and they were great and lasted until grew out with very little maintenance day to day, great if you are time poor. I didn’t need to use straighteners at all when I had this done. Hope that helps

How often do you wash your hair?

Mine is incredibly fine and fluffy and actually sits much better the less often I wash it. I thought it would be really flat but I stick it on top of my head in a scrunchie overnight and this gives a bit of volume. I wish I'd figured out sooner that my hair behaves better when it dirty!

I've got some kind of baobab hair oil that does the job.

Dry hair, straighten, then put a tiny bit of the oil on hair from kind of ear length downwards. Seems to smooth it and also give a tiny bit of extra weight to keep it straight.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I will definitely explore argan oil and karetese a bit further.
I wash my hair every other day, I can't even wear it down on the second day as it feels too dirty and greasy. Any kind of hairband immediately puts a kink in my hair, even the ones that say they don't! Even if I tie it up briefly to get the hair off my face for washing, make up etc. only a couple of minutes later it will have a kink.
