Has anyone ‘had their colours done’? Is it worth it. Which company is best. Any general info or advice would be greatly received!

"There can be a disconnect between wearing your ‘colours’ and looking fashionable. "
This is true - I'm on the kettlewell FB group and whilst some of the clothes are lovely there are people that are wearing garish combinations and would look better in more sophisticated options. However they seem happy with their choices, so that must be good.

I had my colours done with House of Colour about 7 years ago, then went back and had my style done a few years later. It has totally transformed me. I now have a whole wardrobe of things that can be put together. I'm a spring so have a lot of brighter colours but can tone this down with my neutrals. I don't wear the big chunky necklaces etc as they don't suit me.

It's one of the best things I've done for myself and I highly recommend it. If you are thinking of doing it I would do some stalking of consultants on Instagram and try to see one that speaks to you - even if you have to travel a bit.

I had mine done over 30 years ago, then again three years ago. I was assessed as a winter. Since then they have brought in the sub divisions and I am now a jewel winter. I took my old colour swatch with me for the second assessment, but didn't discuss the colours or even which season I was told I was until after I was told that I was a jewel winter.

Very little had changed, except that the ice hyacinth that I was told was my colour the first time round yet never did anything for me is really not my colour, and that emerald green is one of my hero colours.

I find it easy when shopping to walk paste swathes of clothes that I know won't suit me, and find clothes shopping at this time of year a PITA because autumn colours really don't suit me.

I follow the local HOC representative on SM, and as she is a jewel winter as well I can see what looks good and how to style myself. Her clothes might be considered garish by some, but they really do suit her.

The one thing I have taken away from my more recent session is if you have pierced ears never leave the house without earrrings in, and always wear lipstick. I do both. I have pale lips, and lipstick really does brighten my face.

Another thing I was told was that if you are wearing the right colours people just think you look well and shouldn't specifically notice what you are wearing - you should be wearing the clothes, they shouldn't be wearing you.

I also had the HOC style day. I went with 3 other friends who got loads out of it, but annoying I was 'an anomaly' apparently! I ended up quite confused but it did make sense as to why I always struggle with clothes.

The consultant was just as baffled and told me that most people are one style shape, a few people are two, but I was three!! And not just any three, I was gamine, mixed with romantic which are polar opposite's and a bit of natural thrown in.

Apparently my personality didn't match my body shape, hence the confusion, now, I chose not to get offended by this ( I could have done, as she told me I have the personality of a toddler but I am easily excitable and probably a bit annoying), and took away that actually, I am just difficult to dress.

I do have loads of issues finding stuff, and often I will wear something that everyone tells me is stunning but I just don't feel connected to it, and this is probably why. I also suddenly go off things that I've previously loved, literally overnight, the next day, I'll put it on and think "what was I thinking???' I hate this as it is very confusing.
It's made even harder now as I'm about 2 stone heavier than I was when I had the day done.

There's an app called dressika. It's free on playstore and I think it did a good job on giving me the right colour palette and confirmed I'm true summer. Maybe try that? You upload a selfie and it takes your skin, eye and hair colour from that.

House of Colour. Best money ever invested in myself.Even today , 30 years later I was complimented by my optician on the colour I was wearing.
