Green hair tinge!

Can anyone help me with a specific dye to use to fix this? I know I need a red base but I don’t really understand how to find one. It was a hair dye disaster not a chlorine one if that makes a difference, and I don’t have time to go to a salon before I’m going away on Wednesday. So annoyed at myself!

Head and shoulders. Several washes.. Works wonders. Ime.

I've heard ketchup works!

What was your hair colour to start and what colour did you try to dye it?

Were you blonde and you’ve tried to go darker?
A picture would be useful!

@Creepymanonagoatfarm Can I do the shampoos one after the other at the same time if that makes sense or do I need to do one today, one tomorrow etc?

Ketchup will be on later probably!

@SmileyClare I didn’t put a picture because I can’t get the colour in the picture but I can see it in the light. Last week I dyed my blonde ish (it was pink a couple of months ago so it’s still not properly blonde) a subtle ginger colour but it pretty much washed out because of the porous hair. Today the colour was “iced mocha” by L’Oréal which is brownish. I did it this colour when I was dying out the pink and it was fine so I thought it would be okay

Apply ketchup to your dry hair. Leave for 20 mins then shampoo and condition as usual. The ketchup removes the green tinge. Repeat if necessary.
Head and Shoulders will remove the hair dye colour.

I tried bicarb. And sauce. And a full bottle of H&S one wash after another! Only the shampooing worked!

You can get red or pink toners that might be better than ketchup

SmileyClare · 04/09/2022 21:22

Agree you need to add red tones to balance out the green.

Toners are temporary so you need to use it say every other wash, Google red toners.

A permanent fix would be to use a brown dye with red undertones, that will result in a cool brown, example l’Oreal castings crème gloss chilli chocolate.
Brown dyes come out dark so opt for the lightest shade if you’re not naturally quite a dark brunette.
