Red sun damage on chest

I wear a lot of scoop neck tops and over the years I've developed a large red patch of sun damage on my chest. It's very noticeable against the rest of my pale skin.

Can anyone recommend any products to help reduce the redness?

From now on i'll make sure I put sun screen on my chest area but any tips to reduce the redness would be appreciated.

I don’t have any advice but I also have this problem so I’m hoping to see what people say!

Hopeful bump!

Also in the same boat and bumping. I just wear high necklines now though, and after several years of no sun exposure to the area its not gone away. I also use the same products on the area as my face, so it's not neglect.

Kiehl’s has a range called “Clearly Corrective”; there’s a serum and a cream.

I use their Skin Rescuer

I used hyalauronic serum then Skin Rescuer, then SPF and that cleared up my sun damage.

Honestly, I think just using a moisturiser and SPF would do the trick.

I've been using bio oil, very regularly like most days, and feel like that's improved it. But I keep that area out of the sun now too, like cover it up with clothes not just spf, as it got burned and sun damaged so much.

I think using a retinol in the evening and sunblock during the day sounds like the best approach.

Thank you all for the tips, much appreciated 🙂

I’d go straight for a retinol product from the ordinary or similar and wear mineral sunblock all year around.

Is the red from broken veins? If so laser would be your best bet. If its broken veins no creams are going to make any difference and you'll just be wasting your money.

Thanks everyone.

I think the redness is sun damage on my chest as I always wear scoop neck tops to give the illusion of having a neck (I do have a neck, just a very short one!). Plus I'm busty and high neck tops don't suit me. I'll look into vit c serums and retinol. I'll also be more vigilant about putting sunscreen on my chest.

I would go for laser treatment if you can afford it. Everyone is keen to suggest retinol but it can be difficult to tolerate by the thin skin of the décolletage. I’d go gently with aloe Vera and borage seed oil.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 05/09/2022 19:29

Retinol as opposed to tretinoin is generally gentle enough for that area.

  • aloe vera gel
  • sudocrem
  • Prai neck and decolletage cream

Over time, it will fade and won't return if you keep it covered up
