Hair colour match

I'm not able to get to my hairdresser for a little while, but need to dye my hair. Any tips on colour matching with my natural colour? Any time I've done it before, I seem to get it slightly off. I usually use Garnier Nutrisse, no idea if that is good enough or if there is something better/different I should go for? Is there some kind of intelligent colour dye like there is with foundation?!

If it's just to tide you over until you get to the hairdresser you could use a demi like L'Oréal Casting just to blend your roots (depending on how different your dye colour is from your natural colour). Or I've seen lots of people recommend the Clairol root touch up.
Can you ask your hairdresser what shade they usually use?

I think it may be until Christmas that I won't be able to get there so I think I need to go more permanent. She's away at the moment anyway and I want to put something in soon as my greys can wait no longer!

The Root Touch Up might be the answer. I think it claims to be quite forgiving in terms of matching other shades.

I use root touch up sometimes and get 2 different shades and do my own blend. It's a bit guess work but good coverage

Also if you've got brown hair it's really easy to go too dark. Learnt this to my cost when, beginning of pandemic, I used eSalon and went way too dark! Although might be worth looking at their site for information.

I found semi permanent kind of didn't really cover my roots. You could still see them beneath the colour iyswim

Yes it’s easy to go too dark as a PP said. If you think your colour is, for instance, medium golden brown, choose light golden brown. You can always easily go darker if you get it too light, but much harder to go the other way.
