Work / commuting rucksack

Please could someone recommend me a new work / commuting rucksack. I am starting a new job and will be travelling by train to and from the office.

I prefer fabric rather than leather (no ethical reasons, just prefer the look of fabric). It needs to have:

Padded laptop compartment (15")
External pocket for 500ml Chillys water bottle
Preferably waterproof or at least shower resistant (it rains a lot here!)
Comfy straps (I have a 1.5 mile walk from the station)
Organiser pocket with key clip would be nice

@Mum5net yup, actually just sitting at the airport with it now. Not got sore shoulders after lugging my laptop around and has been a safety net knowing it can cope with any extra shopping. Looks good with smart or casual wear Would recommend.

@RealDeeBliss haha that tells me all I need to know. Have a great trip. Off to choose mine now

I use one of these www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07HWNXFS7
It's sold as a changing bag but it doesn't look like one - it has room for a laptop and other stuff, a pocket for a water bottle, comfy straps, key clip etc.

these aren’t cheap but definitely worth it. I had a Fjallraven Kanken and straps on it are awful. This is excellent. I work in the City of London and seen quite a few others with these bags lately. Mines lasted well, fits my laptop, gym kit, book for train, large water bottle in pouch etc.

Second this! I was gifted this and it is the most comfortable bag, really robust and imo still relatively stylish. It’s also light so didn’t add unnecessary extra weight!

congratulations on the new job, op!

I got this one; Anti Theft Travel Backpack, Business School Bookbag with USB Charging Port for Men & Women Fit 15.6 Inches Laptop (C-Grey) Theft Travel Backpack, Business School Bookbag with USB Charging Port for Men & Women Fit 15.6 Inches Laptop (C-Grey) Anti theft backpack
padded laptop space and separate space which could fit iPad.
2 side pockets, shower proof, lots of internal pockets. The zips are at the back so when I’m on busy buses or trains I can keep it on my back!
cheaper on Amazon. Com than .uk
its comfy too.

Not sure it's very stylish but I have one of these and love it, holds everything I need and is very comfortable

Even less stylish but DS bought one of these for school and it is fabulous, lots of pockets and harness style straps that make it comfortable even when very heavy

I’ve got a nice striped Eastpak rucksack that I’ve been happy with. Has a really great padded laptop pocket. No separate water bottle pocket but I just chuck mine in the main bit.

I have had a Tumi for about 6 years and it looks very good still after daily use on the tube being sat on the floor. Black nylon so looks smart etc. obvs 2 years rested in Covid but I use it out of work too. It’s not cheep bit like I say it’s as good as new, zips and nylon all looking good. Tip is to look out for self ridges Black Friday or a pal that’s going tinge US.
