I have just discovered this . What an amazing difference it has made to my skin.
at the moment am just using Vaseline but I am sure there are better options.
anyone else use a different occlusive?

Apparently Aquaphor is a lighter option, but I suspect my skin would resemble an oil slick, as it's combination/oily.

Yes I have heard about aquaphor.
my skin is quite dry, so it’s a game changer. My lips as well, now they are really soft.

Had to look this up as hadn't heard of it. I can just imagine the state my skin would be in if I tried it.

I've been using occlusives for years and much prefer Aquaphor to Vaseline.

I would never do this because (a) I don't want to put a petroleum based product on my face and (b) in about a month you'll see all the blocked pores/spots/rashes from clogging up your skin with something far too dense.

Not all occlusives are petroleum based. There are plenty of lighter options to suit all skin types.

Could you give some examples of lighter occlusives? 😃

it works really well for me. That or I use pure shea butter. I don't ever have clogged pores. People have different skin.

You could just use it on your dry patches

After Tret I need something heavy duty lol

Spaceprincess · 28/08/2022 08:12

I've been using a Vaseline as night cream for years. I'm 51 and my skin is pretty good.

I will start tret again in the autumn. Think the slugging will be just the thing to help with the dryness!

I use Tret 0.05 or 0.1 so I do need a good dose of moisture.

I like the La Roche Posay toleriene (sp?) cream then a layer of vaseline over the top or squalene oil is good too. I do a bit of gua sha along my jaw which gets tense.

Works great for my skin

Rosehip oil is a nice light oil
Castor oil, shea butter – a lot of oils and butters have occlusive properties
Products containing silicones, carnauba wax or beeswax
CeraVe Healing Ointment
