Oodies and alternatives

Looking for some advice please.

I was looking at Oodies for my children this winter, possibly me too!
They seem to be loved by people that have them, but I notice they are pretty pricy, and there seem to be lots of similar, oversized fleece hoodies available on Amazon etc.
Are these good cheap alternatives? Or are Oodies superior and I will find buying cheap is a false economy?

How much better is an original oodie than a primark or aldi knock off?

Oodie often have half price sales on so it's worth keeping an eye out on their website.

I have one of these in grey. I got it as a gift for my birthday last year.

I'm 5'7 and it comes to my toes!

Sometimes I get too hot in it.

We all have snuggz and they are so thick and warm! They often have deals on around christmas time too .

My DH got me an oodie for Christmas one year. It is one of those things I probably wouldnt have bought myself and would've been happy with a 20 quid knock off. Its like wearing a duvet TBH, not just a fleece blanket like some of the alternative ones. It's lovely and warm and is weighted. But it is really thick and heavy, and is like wearing a fat suit. I struggle to do anything like cooking etc in it. It's only really good for sitting on the sofa. If you want something to keep you warm pottering around the house, a dressing gown or cheaper oodie knock off would be fine.

Have a look at the Kuddlys. From my reading they are similar to oodies.
We recently bought them buy one get one free. So around £30 each with that deal. I get so cold I will probably wear my Gillette underneath along with thermals.
I'm just looking into getting fleece lined trousers to keep my bottom half warm.
Although tempted by @RomeoOscarXrayIndigoEcho Amazon link too!
I would have to take it in turns wearing them!

@DSGR I couldn't decide about buying the oodies due to the price but I got them 2 years ago for me & DD and we have more than had our monies worth. We wear them all the time in winter and still good as new. Is definitely buy again when they need replacing.
I got my youngest a next version as she's tiny and that's lastest really well too.

Totally didn’t want to fork out for an Oodie but after buying an Amazon job and it just being rubbish I finally caved and bought them for the whole family. They are AMAZING, we didn’t put the heating on once in the early portion of the year, absolutely no need to.

The Klarna instalment payment option helped

My daughter gave me a cheap version of an Oodie from Amazon as a gift a couple of years back. I thought it was great, bought another one myself. Certain Oodies were on special offer (often happens) last winter and I bought two. The difference between them and the cheap ones is like night and day. The Oodie is longer, wider, thicker, has longer, tighter cuffs. Wore one virtually non-stop for a while, I often had to take it off, as I was too warm.

Fayelina · 04/09/2022 19:26

I bought my boys an oodie type hoodie last year from Amazon, they were massively cheaper than Oodies. Washed and worn well and were definitely warm and cosy.

ilovechocolate07 · 04/09/2022 19:30

We have primark and they're great.

itwasntmetho · 04/09/2022 19:35

We love our Amazon Oodies, I haven't had the heating on since I bought them in Feb.
I think it only works when everyone has one though!

Cheesyfootballs01 · 04/09/2022 19:38

I have a Kudd.ly - it’s the warmest thing ever! Thick Sherpa fleece with a really soft velour like fleece finish. It comes down to my knees and covers all of me when I sit on the sofa 😄

Im 5’3

B&M have some for £18 that are super comfy. Not the best patterns, grey leopard print and pink with hearts.

Bobadob18 · 04/09/2022 20:01

I bought a kuddly on vinted. It’s brand new but got it much cheaper. Quite a few on there at the moment. I read several reviews and the kuddly came out on top. I love it. The inside feels much nicer than the cheaper ones. Given I plan to live in it when indoors I am pleased I went for a more expensive one.

TiaraBoo · 04/09/2022 23:20

I bought a cheap Amazon one for my DD, but the stitching looked a bit rubbish in 1 or 2 places. Not falling apart or anything, just could’ve been a bit neater and I thought she might be a snobby teenager wanting branded stuff and well, next thing you know I’m wearing this absolutely enormous fake oodie. I don’t know how it happened! 😳So as a review, it’s extremely warm and I wore it all winter.
