Can any one recomend a serum that has vit C, hyaluronic acid and retinol, or would I have to apply them separately? (Have been watching 10 years younger!) Thank you.

I would get Tret from Dermatica

You will not find a decent serum that combines all three at a decent amount

HA I like the hado labo

Be careful with hyaluronic acid near your eyes, it attracts moisture and can make them puffy.

I've been using Youthbomb by Beaty Pie and I think it's excellent. I've been so impressed with their products. They do a lot of vitamin potions, hyaluronic kits and retinol kits - I'm just not sure if the strengths are adequate for your needs or you would need a more monthly subscription based dermatology company like Skin & Me.

Thank you for you comments will have to do some research. Ultimately I am a bit lazy/forgetful so an all in one would be nice, or at least a simple regime

I second Dermatica

To jump on this, could posters also mention their age (ish 😉) and the results?
I'm 50, few fine lines around the eyes, couple starting on my cheeks but lucky skin so far except good old turkey neck.
I also watched 10 years younger, is it too late for vit A, should we go straight to retinol?
Are high street rets worth bothering with (I can't justify £22 a month really unless its a miracle worker)

I have a polyglutamaic acid one from the inkey list which is supposed to be more moisturising than hyaluronic acid, I also use (just started) Nip & Fab Dragon's blood and I'm totally impressed

Vit c and retinol aren't great together. I think there are one or two products but I don't see how they can work as they have different pH levels. I am not a chemist or dermatologist though, so take anything I say with a pinch of salt.

Most regimes seem to suggest vit c in morning, retinol at night, or alternate on nights. Or leave at least half an hour between your vit c serum and your retinol.

I use c in the morning, retinol at night. And I add in HA, squalene, oils according to what I feel I need and have to hand. And always spf.

Nip and fab do a serum called no needle fix or similar, i am 60 and its took years off me.

AnchorWHAT · 26/08/2022 14:46

But the best thing that has changed for me is exfoliating, suggested when i had a facial at a spa morning for treat. I use revolution charcoal powder and although messy is gentle and makes me glowy. DS loves it too!

MissyB1 · 26/08/2022 14:52

I'm 54 and use Rosehip oil instead of serum, it works brilliantly for me as I have sensitive skin - especially anywhere near my eyes!

I use The ordinary.

Fumnudge · 26/08/2022 17:29

Great responses (sorry I hijacked this Pastry), it's so hard to know what's good, what's a waste of time, etc.
I did try The Ordinary and didn't notice a difference but maybe I was using the wrong product for me.
Anchor, I'll def look into that.
Oh I wish I could afford fillers & botox

Zeeza · 26/08/2022 17:36

I found the best ingredients for me were vitamin c and tret from a Spanish pharmacy. And lots of hydration. Nothing really holds back time. But this stuff and fillers performed by someone who know what they are doing can make us look healthy and less haggard.

The absolute best for skin is not smoking, healthy diet and exercise and spf though. And that is all cheap as chips.

PAFMO · 26/08/2022 18:24

You need a vit C which is around 15% potency. The best kind of vitamin C is L-Ascorbic acid. Good ones are: N7, Timeless, Garden of Wisdom, Vichy LiftActiv.

Hyaluronic is in virtually every serum going these days and has become a huge buzzword though the jury is out in the beauty industry as to whether it really does that much when applied topically. I use the Hada Labo gold and waver between thinking "meh" and thinking "oh, perhaps it is good after all".

For an entry level retinol you're looking at around 0.3% potency. Check out Nadine Baggott's videos where she explains the difference between all the different retinols and strengths, but in short- very few off the shelf ones have enough % in them to do very much. (be especially wary of those called Granactive Retinoids as they are often marketed at 1% etc but the reality is you need to divide that by 10 to get the actual strength of retinoid)

If you want to go straight to Tretinoin (pure vitamin A) you can get it from the sites like Skin and Me and Dermatica. Tretinoinworld also sell direct. Spanish, Greek pharmacies etc (farmacia Andorra is a well known one online) are clamping down on Tret tourists and increasingly asking for prescriptions.

Pastryapronsucks · 26/08/2022 23:32

I am a few months away from 50. I think I look fairly good for my age. I have always moisturised and used sun screen. Just starting to get some lines around my eyes and look a bit 'meh'.
