Shaving , what is best - electric ? Cartridge or is there ones like mens safety razors ?

Hi

I used to get legs waxed but fed up of the regrowth . Started shaving and just been using the cheap disposable ones , but want something better and less wasteful.

Are electric shavers any good or aren’t they a close enough shave ?

I can see from googling there are disposable, cartridge and electric options .

But men see, to have the option of safety razors. A permanent razor , not plastic, but buy blades.

Would a man’s one be fine for women, legs , under arms ? Or do we need something different . Not talking about it being pink ! But shape different re contours ? Mens is mainly for face or can they use it anywhere ot need something else for that?

Safety razor seems to be this www.westcoastshaving.com/blogs/wet-shaving-and-grooming-blog/what-is-a-safety-razor-for-what-are-the-benefits

Electric seems convenient but doesn’t seem to be a close shave . So looks like razors better .

Any advice very welcome , thanks.

Ah there are safety razors made for women . www.beeco.green/sustainable-razors-women/

Anyone used one ?

Are they different or are we being sold the idea we need nice pastel razors and probably paying more.

Electric razors - not a close enough shave for me, but they are good enough at making your legs pass visual muster at a distance. You still get sharp edged stubble though.

Epilator - good results if you're patient and don't miss any bits. Can be painful but if you're used to waxing probably will just feel zingy. Requires some hair regrowth to grab on to so it can yank it out.

Safety razor - never used, but I think the 'for women' tag is just an excuse to make it rose gold/pink and charge a bit more. I guess weight is critical and possibly handle shape/ length will be important if you're using it in the shower with slippery hands.

Love my epilator. Silk epil 9.

I get barely any regrow now. For it weekly and is a bit laborious at first but then can zip over in 5 mins each week to catch the regrowth. Had a corded one for year but the new cordless one is much easier and it's wet and dry.

I use a safety razor. I did a thread about it a few months ago... I'll try to link

I find a safety razor better than a disposable.

glassofgreen · 26/08/2022 14:43

I can get a close shave with my electric razor (silk epil), I use a Venus razor and I've started using Lumea, so we'll see how that goes.

Epilator I wouldn't use again after ingrowing hair and red dots left behind, not helped by the cream.

I subscribe to Estrid razors and blades. I have really sensitive skin and have had no shaving rash since using these. You can pause the subscription if you need and also choose how often you want the blades.

ZenNudist · 26/08/2022 14:58

I epilate using a braun cordless wet/dry silk epil. Personally wouldn't shave. Epilating takes me about an hour for hairy legs but I can do it watching TV or listening to a book then lasts about a week before I need to start top up epilating for 10 mins here and there. I would find shaving way more time consuming every other day.

There is a deal on Estrid at the moment. I got the link from the bargains page on the money section . I think the handle and the blades ended up costing me £2.98 with free postage.

I've had my #Silk Epil for around 20 years and it's still brilliant. Forget about Epilator, very painful and not efficient.

I presume its like waxing in that you get used to the pain and don't notice it the more you do it ?

Thats a shaver ?

Apologies for tardy reply. Just finished Chinese takeaway, yum. It looks like a shaver but acts like an epilator but with no pain. The epilater I tried and couldn't continue with was the original epilator, like curled springs. Agony!
