I'm going to Bucharest for a week in September, flying from Manchester and only taking cabin luggage - so far I've whittled my 10 liquids to this list:

Primer
Setting spray
Foundation
Concealer
Mascara
Moisturizer
Multi use hair styling product
Hair oil
Skin serum
Perfume

I have solid bars of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and face cleanser. I don't THINK lipsticks count (read conflicting things!) and will use powder blush and contour.

Have I covered everything? Can it need improved upon? I'm not a packing light kind of girl normally!!!

Its not a limit of 10 liquids. Its however many items 100ml or under that you can fit into the resealable clear bag and for it still to be able to be sealed. Bag can be max 20x20cm in size

Have you travel-aized containers that you can decant these things into? Definitely doable for setting spray, hair oil and perfume, moisturiser, foundation too if it's in a big clunky bottle,

What is the multi use hair product? Can you buy some of this airside at boots?

The containers are probably small enough but I can easily buy some if need be. I may buy shampoos, conditioner and body wash airside to save on weight but the rest are specific products.

The hair product is Revlon uniq 1 which should just want do all my hair needs.

That's helpful thanks - I wonder where I got the 10 items limit from? That does make things easier!

You have to make sure the bottle isn’t bigger than 100ml even if there is less than 100ml
inside.

I’ve done a Click and Collect for Boots airside before.

JudgeRindersMinder · 25/08/2022 08:08

I went through an airport recently and was told that lipstick does count-we all focus on liquids, but it’s liquids and creams-which covers lipstick.
Security were being particularly pedantic/arsy that day and insisting that everything had to fit into a 6” square bag they provided, not the clear toiletry bag I’ve used for about 15 years, so bear that in mind too

dementedpixie · 25/08/2022 08:11

I always use a small resealable freezer bag as that is around the correct size. It's liquids, pastes and gels that count. Lipstick I would regard as solid at room temperature but some airport staff may not agree.

Why don't you leave the hair oil and serum at home and see if you notice any difference after a week? I think a lot of these products are clever marketing...

Rina66 · 25/08/2022 08:21

Toothpaste and deodorant?

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 25/08/2022 08:25

According to https://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/help/passenger-guides/security/ lipsticks don't count.
Be wary of decanting into travel bottles that don't have the size printed in them - theoretically these could be taken off you.

OP re the 10 item limit - I saw on an airline website recently (possibly EasyJet who we flew with recently) that you had a max of 1000ML in total, one example of which would be 10x100ML but there would be other configuration. . Not sure how you'd get that much in the max allowed bag size (20cm x 20cm) anyway tho

Deodorant
Toothpaste

Snowiscold · 25/08/2022 08:34

Sunscreen

GrandSlamFinalee · 25/08/2022 08:37

Deodorant, toothpaste, antibac?

Those are items I always carry with me. Although I guess you could buy standard brands of those after security.

Lipsticks don’t count as a liquid. I take one plus various lip balms (lipstick-shaped) weekly through security. Never been stopped because of it.

You can get small sample tubs and decant foundation into them - I also decanted my moisturiser, face sun cream, serum, cleanser and eye cream into them when I travelled last month. They hold about 20ml and lasted a week.
I bought deodorant, sun cream and toothpaste from Boots once we went through security. Travel sizes were 4 for 3 in Boots. I had a 100ml plastic spray bottle that I took perfume in. Nobody at the airport checked my liquids bag - believe me they’re far too busy to!
Coming back from Amsterdam you don’t even need to take your liquids bag out of your carry on!

I've done that on weekends away - big mistake! My hair can go very frizzy with water changes - think Monica from friends on holiday 🤣
