First ever Botox 2 weeks before wedding

I'm wondering if I was too hasty. I thought some botox on frown lines between eyebrows might be good for wedding photos. Is this a crazy idea for someone who's never had it? I've booked into a reputable clinic with a medical professional. I'm not one for doing things like this and starting to worry something might go wrong.

I guess people have their opinions on this but for those who have had it do you think doing it for a special occasion like this is risky?

A recipe for disaster . . .

girlmom21 · 24/08/2022 09:16

I absolutely would not take that risk.

memyselfi · 24/08/2022 09:18

Is this your own wedding ?
I definitely wouldn't risk it. Botox made my eyes more hooded than usual and I just looked really tired so there's no guarantee of a good result .
Why don't you get one of those high tech facials that lift and firm ? Nothing invasive though.

I'd book more than two weeks in advance.
I'm relatively new to Botox and was surprised to find that the 'two week follow up' is usually correcting imbalances in it taking.

For example, I have a little around my eyes to prevent crows feet and it always takes better on one side than the other so I end up with one smooth eye and one creased - not super noticeable day to day - but definitely something I'd be obsessing over in wedding photos.

I'd definitely book it about four weeks in advance so you can have the initial treatment, have the top up, and then let that settle too.

Also, if you ask for 'natural' rather than 'frozen' you'll find it far less intimidating.
As I said, I'm not to it all and was terrified of being shiny and frozen, but the therapist was very clear that you can always add more but you can't take it away. So we did a tiny bit the first time, then topped up two weeks later if I wanted more.

I'm sure others will come who know more than I - I'm just coming up to a year of having it - but just wanted to share my experience as a nervous first timer who also doesn't usually do these things!

Not two weeks before your wedding.

A month before which gives you time for the two week follow up and a few weeks to let things settle down. I ended up with a black eye after my two week follow up appointment, so just give yourself more time and don't put yourself through unnecessary stress.

Botox always looks worse at first as it’s quite tight. Best is after 2 months when it has relaxed

harriethoyle · 24/08/2022 09:27

Absolutely not. My practitioner was asked to do this for MOB. She refused and MOB went elsewhere. One of her eyelids then drooped and she had to be in all the photos side on... 🙈

SunshineAndFizz · 24/08/2022 09:28

2 weeks is too short notice - as people say you get a follow up after 2 weeks and it probably looks it's best after a month.

I'd do it 2 months beforehand for optimum results.

thanks for posts - i'm not going ahead with it. It was a moment of not thinking things through.

This. Another voice saying do not do it 2 weeks before any important event. Thank goodness you're not 😀

Good choice. Not worth the risk.

How deep are your frown lines? I've been sleeping with anti wrinkle plasters (you can buy them from Amazon or just use medical tape which is cheaper) all over my forehead at night for a couple of weeks with good results. I can mostly control my expressions during the day but I think I scrunch my face when dreaming. My lines aren't very deep though.

TheOGCCL · 24/08/2022 10:25

It would probably be fine but you can't risk it. Everyone takes to it differently. My practitioner was very confident I wouldn't get hooded eyes due to my face structure and he was right but I still wouldn't have risked it.

Agree with a PP that Frownies are next best thing, if you wear them regularly at night and around the house.
