Silver grey hair, purple shampoo not covering

I have long covid, it has affected my hair, skin and nails.
I am taking vitamins, trying to eat well and keep hydrated.

My hair is natural gray, pixie cut and I use Fudge purple shampoo to keep a lilac-toned silver gray.
Since I had Covid the Fudge shampoo isn't covering my hair in the same way. There is yellowish tone to some strands of hair, especially in my fringe.

I use a 'normal' shampoo for first wash to cleanse any hair products then leave Fudge n for about 10 minutes. I have tried leaving it for longer, this makes no difference.
I have dead ends of my hair trimmed regularly so I don't think it's dead or very dry hair.
I have bought a hair mask, hair rejuvenating spray and heat protection spray today.
Any other suggestions please? Should I use a Silver gray permanent dye?
Leave it au naturel?

( Spell gray as grey? 😉🦻🏻)

Have you tried Shrine drops? They are drops of temporary dye /toner you mix with a conditioner and apply after washing with a no silicone shampoo. You can adjust the colour by adding more or fewer drops so you could have a play to see if dialling it up a bit works better

Thank you all so much

Shrine had zero effect on my hair.

@DeborahVance

The OP said she wanted lilac tones.

You can dilute the colour of any direct dye tint with white coloured hair conditioner making it a more of a pastel shade.

Less is more is the mantra to consider.

You should end up with a soft emulsion type consistency although a couple of brands don't mix as well and can be quite drippy. Still works as well but messier to apply.

Ah I misread! Thanks

There’s a Blue Banana near my workplace!

Thinking of venturing in even though I don’t have my granddaughter as cover for aged woman!

only joking, the staff are lovely!

I will report back later. If I have to go on holiday with bright purple hair it’s on MN!

(I am going to Glastonbury, it will be fine☺️)

I really appreciate the information about UV light and the effects, I couldn’t work out what I was doing wrong. I am going to buy some sun protection for my hair today.

I would try not shampooing with a different shampoo and instead do two washes with the fudge each time. It seems to build up the colour better this way.

Well, I bought a Manic Panic Blue Steel from Blue Banana and it has worked really well.
I have packed bandanas and my summer hat for my holiday as the forecast is good.

I thank you all for your support!
