Non-fugly yet supportive shoes/trainers

Probably due to 18 months of daily dog walks in flat, loose Converse and wearing ballet pump type shoes to work a lot of the time (and being a bit flat footed and fat), my ankle has finally protested at the lack of support and has been painful for the last week or so. Going down stairs in the morning is really painful, and anything like that kind of stretch really hurts. It gets better as the day goes on and it’s not bruised/swollen so I don’t think I’ve done anything major (and can’t remember twisting it) but it’s still sore.

This morning ice helped, and because the dog needs a walk I thought I would try the running trainers I bought when I thought I would be a runner - I did the full run on the treadmill to analyse my gait and get the right ones but have never really worn them. Anyway, my ankle still hurts a bit but in these trainers it is more bearable. I’m keeping them on for the rest of the day!

So I need more supportive trainers and something I can wear to work to go with casual dresses/tights type outfits. I have ankle boots I normally wear so if not new shoes then maybe something I can put in them?

Are Sketchers the ones? Or anything a little less clumpy?

Any tips much appreciated!

Look at Fitflops. Skechers are a bit dependent on the style.

I find Skechers a bit spongy. I like Nike trainers with an insole in for work. Have you thought about just getting walking shoes-much more supportive and some look really good-Scarpa Mojito or Adidas Terrex. You can sometimes find them on offer.

Superfeet insoles will make a difference if you don’t want to buy new shoes.
