Hate my boobs. I'm 34 e dometimes f they make me look so fat. Nothing looks nice. I wear v neck and tried a minimise bra but I still look awful
Any ideas on what I can do to make improvements. Thanks

Boat neck tops are wrong for big boobs. They make them look wider.

V neck and sweetheart neck are the best. I also found loose crew necks quite flattering. I had big boobs before a reduction. You can dress to disguise the size.

Avoiding tight stuff is the best. Wear fitted outfits. I found dresses the best.

Musmerian · 20/08/2022 08:57

I’m 34 H - I was 34 E before last DC. Honestly with well fitting bra and right clothes I think 34 E looks fine. I’d recommend Primadonna bras for the absolute best fit - spendy but worth every penny. I’ve given up on cheaper alternatives. If you can go to Rigby and Peller to double check fit.

Musmerian · 20/08/2022 08:58

Plus minimiser bras are terrible- just get a really good bra that holds them solidly !

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/08/2022 09:17

Side sling bras are the best.

Branleuse · 20/08/2022 09:20

I dont think 34E sounds matronly. Its a perfectly normal size. You just need to find the right style for you and probably a better bra. Id get to a bravissimo and see if maybe a different style bra would help.
The problem with minimiser bras is they flatten and make boobs go to the side or look taller. That can make it look like youre bigger in general rather than just have boobs. Some bras give me a more youthful shape than others.
Id follow some fuller bust instagram pages for fashion ideas.

A few people recommending a French tuck on here. It looks so chic on others but I can't do it without looking like it's accidental after a wee. What's the secret to making it look effortless but intentional?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/08/2022 09:37

Agree with @Ffsjustltb about little cardigans, but they are very difficult to find.

I'm short waisted so tucking stuff in often looks worse, and French tucks look ridiculous.

Dresses with a proper waist work for me. Scoop necks, v necks and wrap tops with a camisole under.

If I wear a t-shirt, I generally use a hair bobble to 'knot' it and give it a bit of shape.

If I'm wearing something without a waist or shape, it works much better if I put a fitted cardigan or fitted jacket of some sort over it.

Cestmoiici · 20/08/2022 09:50

Another vote for Bravissimo! 34 GG here, minimisers just did not work for me, looked flat and somehow problematic 😅. I’m fully supported now! All clothes look so much better and I have a nice feminine shape. Matron has left the building! Panache best brand for me - actually comfortable! Had shoulder pain before. Go for it OP!

Same question here!

I'm apple shape 38E and short, so it all seems a bit hopeless.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn · 20/08/2022 10:09

34K here....I completely feel matronly

You’ve just nailed my problem with the French tuck 🤣

ProbablyPossiblyPerhaps · 20/08/2022 10:43

I'm a 34F and actually don't have especially big breasts - it is a pretty ordinary size if that is a boob or bust measurement, unless you're quite short as well perhaps. I agree with those saying that you might be wearing the wrong sized bra (perhaps you're really a 30 G for example?) or the wrong style of bra for proper support.

When I wear my everyday bras (Freya Fantasie or something I think they're called, it took me a lot of trial and error to find the unicorn perfect bra for me) I look fine because the bra gives good support and shape, but I've noticed on holiday photos that when I had a sloggi bikini top underneath I looked shapeless and about two stone heavier than another photo with the same top and a good bra underneath earlier the same day!).

AnnaMagnani · 20/08/2022 10:43

I don't think 34E is a matronly size either. I'm 34GG and think my boobs are my best feature!

I'd also vote for Bravissimo, the right style and probably a side sling style. You need lift and separation. Also V neck tops.

But after that a lot of it is attitude - I don't think I look matronly in what I wear, no way would I be thinking of a minimizer and I like to imagine I'm fairly stylish.

The current fashion for small round necks does no-one with boobs any favours (I recall a sad shopping trip where I tried on a top and DH said I looked like an elderly milkmaid), but there is plenty out there that looks far better with boobs than without.

LookItsMeAgain · 20/08/2022 10:59

I'm with you @superplumb - I find my ample bosom restricts what I can wear and what I can take part in (exercise etc.) even with a sports bra.

My advice would be to put a little bit of money away if you can spare it and if necessary, take out a loan from the credit union (again, only if you can afford it) so that you can go under the knife to get the breast size that you want.

I do not make this suggestion lightly but as someone who fluctuates between a D to DD and E and sometimes an F cup, I look at the photos of when I was younger and a C cup and what I could do then to what I can do now. My back hurts and I swear to god if blokes had to carry around this weight that affected their backs as we women have to do, I really feel that breast reduction wouldn't come under the umbrella of plastic/cosmetic surgery and would be covered without a question on the NHS.

I feel your pain. Relatively I have a slim figure and people often remark on how little there is of me but I only see my out of proportion, matronly boobs. I think it’s partly because that’s really all I can see when I look down. It’s difficult to dress, especially for normal settings where you don’t particularly want to look like Jessica Rabbit.

I tried minimiser bras but agree they can just make them look a funny shape. After all, all that flesh has to go somewhere. My sports bra does a similar thing. Speaking of sports all those athletes with no boobs at the Commonwealth Games and European Championships, very jealous. I like the Panache bras Tango and Envy.

I agree of late I’ve started thinking tucking in tops looks better, rather than having them hang off the bust (which can make you look like you are smuggling ferrets). I’ve found you need a top with a) plenty of fabric so you can lodge it in properly, and take account of the mounds, and still have fabric to pull out gently b) ideally fabric which is quite stretchy, like jersey. Nothing too tight or fitted, the aim is to highlight the waist. It’s a more modern look and offsets the matron.

Neckline wise I think it’s difficult to generalise as there are other factors at play such as how long your neck is and your face shape and age. Although v or scoop neck reduce my bust I look aged as the v accentuates my droopy face, and highlights my turkey neck. I often prefer a high neck with jewellery to create the v.

Its true balancing out the bottom half makes boobs look smaller. I like skinnies but recognise these are not the most balancing/ flattering.

Wearing something open over a top such as a shirt or cardigan creates vertical lines which is flattering. I personally find jumpers hardest as they either read tight (sort of 1950s pin up vibe) or they are oversized and baggy and that’s really a look I find unflattering and makes me feel quite unattractive. I tend to find jumpers harder to tuck in but may experiment again this year. I find summer dressing far easier as I think sandals balance out a big bust, something about seeing all the toes splayed.

Finally although I’m not a massive fan of big sleeves, big/wide sleeves are flattering as they again create balance, so your boobs look smaller in comparison. Tight sleeves do the opposite.

Poshcandle · 20/08/2022 13:24

I’m 34 G and only 5’ and my boobs are saggy and heavy. This is the best bra I’ve found and the only style I’ve worn for the last 5 years. I get it from Bravissimo. They always insist I’m 32ff but it felt so tight round my ribcage I gave up on their insistence and got a 34g which feels far more comfy and produces less back fat. I wish years ago I’d got a reduction but I’m in my 60s now and it doesn’t seem worth it seeing ive gone so long carting them around.

I am ample of nork.

You really do have to think about proportions.

i generally find a round neck most flattering, but it has to be low enough to show a bit of collarbone.

Then cardies or jackets to give a bit of vertical dimension.

My favourite thing is to wear monotone top/trousers with something contrasting and open over the top.

Getting things that fit between the armpit and the bum cheek is critical.

i don’t like 3/4 sleeves as such but I nearly always roll or push up sleeves to this length as it balances things out.

I’ve recently managed to get some non underwired bras to intentionally create a bit of monoboob. A lot of trendy, looser toys at the moment just don’t look good with lifted/separated boobs underneath.

It takes a lot of trial and error for sure!!
