Morning routine, getting ready, make up clothes

Hi, I’m just curious, I really struggle with getting myself ready in the morning before heading out the door. What are your morning routines, what time do you get up, how long on make up, hair, do you get an outfit ready, how old are your kids? My daughter is 2, I give myself honestly like 3 mins if that to get ready and 2 mins is brushing my teeth! Meanwhile my daughter and husband are all sorted looking great and I’m running around like a headless chicken! I probably do need to wake up earlier but I’m curious, I want a routine in the morning, something I can stick to? X

More than 3 minutes for sure:
coffee (time available)
shower (5-10 minutes, wash hair every other day)
teeth (3 mins in flossing and mouthwash)
moisturise face (seconds)
get dressed (5 minutes inc picking)
Make up (5-10 minutes depending on how much and with wet hair still in microfibre towel)

Dry and style hair (5 minutes as v. short) on non wash days it’s a two minute fix)

I make that a minimum 20 minutes and a maximum 30 ish and that feel about right for a very average day with no special events.

It is protected time in my house, it’s an important part of my self care and wellbeing to feel put together.

(I use body moisturiser in the evenings)

I get up half an hour before I have to set off, but I go straight to the gym and shower/get dressed there so it's mostly spent having coffee and chucking on my gym clothes. I do brush my teeth before I go, and my normal clothes are packed in a bag in my gym bag the night before - I do virtually nothing first thing tbh 😂

At the gym after workout - shower, body lotion, tie hair up a bit more nearly, then get dressed and moisturise face, then breakfast after so probably about 45 minutes total if I add it all together.

About 20 mins total. Get dressed, wash face, brush teeth, breakfast, no make up, quick ruffle of the hair, deodorant and perfume. I pick my clothes out the night before.

I get ready in a few minutes too, usually constantly interrupted by my three year old. Wash face, moisturise, very simple make-up (concealer, tinted moisturiser, cream blush and mascara), deodorant, smooth down hair with a bit of spray/serum.
I get my clothes (inc underwear and accessories) ready the night before to avoid morning faffing, this saves loads of time.

I shower and wash my hair the night before. I have to be up for 5am for work, so I like to spend as much time in bed as possible! And have clothes ready the night before. If taking my DS to school, clothes and snacks ready too

In total probably about 15 minutes in the morning

Quick splash of water on my face to wake me up
Spf 50 (I don't bother with moisturiser)
Mascara (not all the time)
Liquid concealer
Some blush and highlighter
Quick spray with setting spray

All takes about 2 mins

Brush teeth 2 minutes

Put clothes on

The longest I take time with is probably my hair. Either a quick straighten or curling tongs. But usually about 5 mins

I give myself about half an hour in the morning, which gives me about 15 mins to sit and relax a bit before I need to leave

I have two DC (5 and 2), I take around 40mins to get myself ready on week days. Quick shower and hair wash, skincare, blast hair dry then run straighteners over, quick makeup (tinted moisturiser, bronzer, blusher, eyebrows and mascara) and get dressed. If the children are awake when I get up DC1 watches CBeebies on the tablet or looks at his books in his room and DC2 just potters about (usually throwing toys in while I shower!). Then we head downstairs and I have a coffee while feeding DC2 (still breastfeeding). Then it’s breakfast for the children, brush teeth/wash face and hands and get dressed (we do this downstairs). They then play or watch CBeebies while I pack the bags and get lunches ready, then shoes on and out the door! Probably get up 1.5hrs before we need to leave the house, I should get bags and lunches ready the night before but I can’t be bothered! Weekends are much more slow and leisurely as DH is around (he leaves early for work Mon-Fri)

Short and efficient if I need to go to the office:

  • 7:15am wake up (unless DD wakes us up earlier, which happens often)

  • 30 min getting ready on a good day, sometimes half that time if in a rush (toilet, quick wash, a touch of makeup, quick hair styling if needed -literally 3 min to take the frizz away, nothing fancy- get dressed, prep bag)

  • in the meantime, DH is with DD as he goes to work later than me and takes care of her on the days I need to go to the office

  • walk to train station (10 min), take train

  • breakfast in the office

DD is 2yo. When I work from home I usually take her to nursery and I don’t do anything other than being with her, prepare her breakfast etc. I then do my stuff once I come back home a few min before starting work.

Ok

I have two young kids I find the following helps.

Get clothes ready the night before including shoes accessories. Pick things that go well together.

Night cream before bed skin looks good in morning if rushing no time for makeup.

Practice a quick makeup routine I.e just mascara blush lipstick or Chuck into hang bag for whenever you a have a few mins.

Shower in evening wash hair straight etc tie up for bed so ok in morning

Xx
