Help - I have the Rachel!

Hi all,
I just got my hair cut today and I’m not too keen on it. I asked my hairdresser for something like the photo on the left below, but it looks more like Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel cut from the 90s.

I’ve been going to my hairdresser for years and normally I’m very happy with her work as before this I’ve had longer, unlayered hair which I usually just had trimmed and straightened. I thought I’d go for a bit of a change and to be fair I think it has been cut the way I asked - shorter with layers - but has been styled in a volume-y, bouffant way with the ends flicked out. I wanted something that was flatter and a bit more textured. I showed my hairdresser the first photo but maybe I should have been more specific about what I didn’t want (I have a round face and definitely can’t carry off bouffant hair!)

Hoping when I wash and dry it myself it’ll take the volume out of it, but does anyone have any tips as to how I can style it/products to use so that it’ll resemble the pic on the left a bit more?

@Corbes ring hairdresser. A good one who knows you will want you to be happy. Mine normally does wonders with mine especially my lame explanations as she asks really good questions to get to what I want versus what I asked for. I got home once and was unconvinced so I called - she said, just come back and we will sort it. She did sort it and also said she was pleased I gave her the chance to do so.

I’ve washed it, used some texturising spray and part dried/scrunched it so it looks much more closer to what I wanted. Thankfully the volume is gone, which may have suited others but not me - made me look too mumsy. Thanks for the replies everyone!

Good hairdressers are always happy to sort it. My hairdresser cut and coloured by hair beautifully but the colour was not what I'd asked for (and thought I'd been quite detailed with!). I rang up to ask if I could come in for adjustments and they redid the whole thing free of charge, it was perfect 2nd time around.
