Retirides

currently using 0.05% tretinoin. Just bought retirides 0.1% from Spain. Any ideas if it’s good reactions etc?

I think Retirides is very strong so I’d go very easy but depends what brand your current tretinoin is from.

Thanks so much. I currently use Retino cream by J&J. I am quite worried as I have seen some YouTubers mentioning this also.

I'm the opposite to you, have gone from using Retirides to using Retino-A (because it was hard to get Retirides recently) although have only switched quite recently so can't comment on results really.
I have to say I actually like the formula of Retino-A better, it leaves a matte finish which I like, although it's a bitch to rub in because the cream is quite thick - Retirides is a lighter cream, but left my skin looking quite shiny.

If you are going from 0.05% to 0.1% you may get more irritation, which is annoying if you have moved past the peeling stages. Apparently, using a higher strength doesn't necessarily speed up results, what matters is consistent use over time. One study showed that groups using the lowest strength (0.025%) and the highest strength (0.1%) had very similar results after 1 year of use, but the group using the higher strength reported more irritation.
So if the 0.1% doesn't suit you, going back to 0.05% will still give good results if your skin can tolerate it.

Thanks so much for all your help and advice, really appreciate it. I have been using the Retino for 9 months. I am hoping to go up to a higher strength for visible results but will use with caution and may need to switch back. Retino has been great with very minimal peeling, my skin did get irritated when I just started though. Hoping for great results. 🤞🏼

I had the 0.1% after using 0.05% for two years, but my skin wouldn't tolerate it, I could only use 2 to 3 times a week, and still got peeling, where the 0.05 I can use 4/5 times a week.

SARBYSS · 19/08/2022 21:47

Think I’ll start once a week and take it from there I remember the first time I tried 0.05 Retino, my skin was irritated, I stopped using it then only used once a week till I built up the tolerance. It’s very hard to find 0.1% in cream form as I have dry skin, I was quite skeptical using the Gel as it would dry my skin out more with the addition of the alcohol. I was watching a YouTuber who mentioned fragrance in Retirides, has anybody experienced any issues with this?

Did anyone apply retirides under the eyes? I apply the 0.05 Retino under my eyes but as the eye area is delicate I’m guessing the Retirides 0.1% would dry the skin out very severely?

I got Retirides when in Spain a couple of years ago. Got a tube of the weakest strength and the next one up, intending to work up to the second one. Used the first one 3 times a week and after a month half my face was peeling off AND I developed peri-oral dermatitis. So it went in the bin! I guess there's a reason why you're supposed to get this stuff through a qualified dermatologist.

lindyloo57 · 22/08/2022 18:09

@1Wanda1 this happed to me when I first started with retinol, I brought some from The ordinary, some say its to weak to work, but I had terrible reaction on my chest all red and sore, had to buy a cream to calm it down, on my face it was OK. So I don't use my retirides on my chest or round my eyes.

SARBYSS · 22/08/2022 21:19

Really worried now. Ordered another brand 0.1% of Tretiheal.

I loved Tretheal 0.1%, no harsh peeling for me
