Ugly, long, thick leg vein. Any solutions?

Hi,

So I should start by saying that my legs were actually my best feature and when I was feeling a bit self conscious about other parts of my body, I could get my legs out and feel a bit better.

However, a couple of weeks a go I was just on my way out, had a quick glance in the mirror, but noticed this really unsightly vein running down my lower leg, in a really noticeable position, right at the front. You can't cover it, as it's not so much the colour, but how much it protrudes Confused so I quickly changed my outfit to cover.

I've heard of treatments for thread veins, but this vein is really big and looks.....useful (?) so not sure if those treatments would work on it.

I know there are worse things and I actually love a maxi, but I'd still like to get my legs out in the summer, ie, without opaque tights, for a few years yet. I'm only late 30's!

Can anything be done?

TIA

Could it be a varicose vein?

I had both my huge varicose veins stripped when I was 23 after pregnancy. But that was 25 years ago.
I had to have an epidural and the surgeon cut a 6cm slice in both sides of my groin and a 3 cm cut on both inside knees. And then he stripped the vein.
They used to say a varicose vein wasn't useful as it wasn't a properly working vein.
I've also had smaller ones injected. Injections don't work on bigger veins.

@gamerchick I don't think so. It looks like a normal vein you get in your wrist iyswim. I suspect it was always there, but has just come to the surface.

Sounds like a varicose veinwww.nhs.uk/conditions/varicose-veins/

That's what veins do. They move inside the body. If we're warm they come to the surface to cool down, if we're cold they retreat inside the body to stay warm. Clever things really.
