Anyone saving up their Boots points?

I currently have £23 on my Boots card and plan to save upto when I have £100 worth of points, even though I know it's probably going to take forever! There's a Dior perfume I really want and it's £90. Are you saving your points for anything in particular?

They changed the t&c and can wipe them. I bought some sunglasses and sun cream for hols with mine. Our local boots is big and really busy and nice, it’ll be a shame if it goes.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/08/2022 09:03

I used to spend them on photo processing, then kids' clothes. Kids far too big now. Have quite a few accumulated. I'm very low maintenance, I often buy lunch with them!

They actually wiped your points? @bluesky45

If you don't use your card within a year then they will wipe the points.

dontgobaconmyheart · 18/08/2022 10:59

I'm not intentionally saving them, and will probably use them up next time I go in as usual I just don't go in there often. I usually use them to pick up whatever I need to buy or have run out of at home if I know I have enough points to cover it, I don't 'save up' for specific things or treats. A saving's a saving.

They did a big fanfare a while back about changing the t&c's re: the time limit for using up points so I'd rather just spend them so I don't have to worry/think about losing them.

justasking111 · 18/08/2022 11:05

We lost Debenhams in Llandudno, Boots picked up some of the slack make up wise if they go there's only superdrug sigh ...

I don't want to buy make up online I like to talk to a make up assistant sometimes

xogossipgirlxo · 18/08/2022 12:47

I used to save loads, now I save probably around £10 of points and spend for lipstick or something, nothing big. I switched to Superdrug due to cheaper prices, hence not too many points on advantage card.

Itstrueiagree · 18/08/2022 22:41

Whataretheodds where have you read that they are changing the scheme? Most shops are short staffed at the moment as they are cost cutting and so fewer staff means less products on the shelves. I think they're probably doing well in online sales still and click n collect? Doesn't mean they'll be closing stores as they still have pharmacy and opticians services surely?
They've already said if people don't use their card at least once a year that they'll be penalised but cantsee them changing it again so soon.

I save mine up for luxuries and then a few times a year will use the points for a big toiletry shop for my local Foodbank, or I will use the points to get some Childress 3 for 2 gifts to donate to a local charity. I’m saving up extra points through the recycling scheme they have. I’ve wasn’t well over £100 in the last year due to it. I doubt they’ll go under, a lot of the stores have big contracts with care homes to provide all the meds. That all goes on upstairs, not on the shop floor so don’t see all the extra business they get.
the t’s and c’s have changed recently that points are wiped after 1/months of inactivity of your card. Even if you don’t buy something ask at the till for them to check your balance and that will act as an activation x

HappenstanceMarmite · 18/08/2022 23:25

Can someone remind me how it works please? I always get it wrong eg can you use your points for part payment?

Kiitos · 18/08/2022 23:30

I always save mine to buy suncream for holidays. I noticed a while back that the fewer
points you have saved, the better the offers they send you are - another reason to spend rather than save!

No, it has to be full payment.

CraftyClara · 19/08/2022 05:09

The Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus branches are always really busy. Think I’ve got about £50 on mine.

Nat6999 · 19/08/2022 05:10

I have £200 worth, I'm saving them to blow on Woodwick candles when I move house. Something I want, not something essential.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 19/08/2022 05:21

The full payment thing has always bugged me. I’m saving mine up for a new hairdryer when my current one dies. I’ve got 40 quid. Last time I blew it all on a babiliss round brush (because of mn)

@wednesday32 I thought with the recycling scheme you had to use them then and there?

so drop off the stuff, get the points, use them in a transaction at the same time?

1990s · 19/08/2022 06:36

From their t&cs. I thought this was a bit mean that you couldn’t save up the points.

The voucher works like other ones where it adds thr points to your card. A bit like the spend £50 get 500 points ones that get sent

woodhill · 19/08/2022 10:04

Yes the recycling thing is very good and that's how I build up my points to treat myself

woodhill · 19/08/2022 10:05

So I recycle the items then the voucher is issued and I buy what I need so the points are added

It was obviously better when you didn't have to buy anything to do the recycling

BrutusMcDogface · 19/08/2022 10:09

I have been saving mine up, too. Only have about £25 as I don’t shop at boots much anymore, but might go and spend them just in case!

wednesday32 · 19/08/2022 23:24

The points coupon shows up on your phone straight away and has to be used within 2 days. So I only take my recycling into store around the time I plan to actually shop.
