Hi,
I get botox a couple of times a year. It's a well respected city centre clinic run by qualified aesthetic nurses and doctors. My usual doctor is away at the moment on maternity leave, and a nurse stood in for her. I noticed that she had two glass vials, one large and one small. She mainly used the large vial for filling up the needle and I think she disposed of the needle after each use on me. I'm a bit of a worrier, however, and although the little vial was emptied during treatment and thrown away, the large one was put back in the fridge afterwards, and it occurred to me that if she ever accidentally 'double dipped' a syringe into this vial, this would be risky, health and safety-wise. Is this practice normal, or something I should flag up with the clinic? I don't know if it was ready -mixed botox, or maybe saline that's mixed with botox. I would be much happier with a single use vial just for me, but not sure what the standard practice is? She certainly used a new needle on each area. Please no comments from the anti-botox brigade, I'm just looking for information from qualified nurses and doctors, no judgement. Many thanks!
