My hair is in desperate need of a cut but I'm very undecided what to do with it - very tempted to go shorter but I worry about the upkeep.

If it helps, I have two young kids with a third on the way, and we have a working farm so time for grooming is few and far between, and often gets undone within half an hour of being outside anyway Grin my general routine at the moment is wash once a week, let it dry naturally and then normally scoop it up into a clip day to day.

Photos show hair down just having been washed and the usual (messy) style I wear it up.

Before I was pregnant I was blow drying it once a week with a Dyson air wrap but I just haven't had the energy more recently. Maybe I would again if it was shorter.

Open to suggestions for easy to manage hair cuts please, I know it's a mess at the moment, please save my insecurities Smile

I think your current style looks lovely and suits you! Layers wouldn’t work and you need some length to be able to tie it up. A fringe would overwhelm your lovely fine features.
I would just have a good trim and if you fancy a pamper, maybe a deep conditioning treatment or a gloss or something?

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 13/08/2022 11:13

Sorry to totally contradict PP but I would go for a fringe personally!

This is the haircut I would love, but I know that being an overweight 50 year old it won’t look like this on me. Could look fab on you though.

I love that hairstyle a lot @SteveHarringtonsChestHair but I feel a fringe is not for me, I have quite thin hair around my face so fringes tend to look a bit shit and scraggly

I think a good deep condition is a good shout, I think the sun has frazzled it a bit

Your hair is lovely. The ends look a little straggly, so all I would suggest is a trim. If you haven't got time to blow dry it anymore, then your first air dried style is still a great look. It also looks nice up, as you have a decent jawline.

Is that your natural colour?

HairOclock · 13/08/2022 12:46

Ends definitely in need of a trim I agree, my hair does seem to get straggly from this length onwards but probably also not helped by the fact it was last cut in January..! Yes this is my natural colour, goes a bit darker in winter

It's lovely as it is!

Arnaquer · 13/08/2022 13:13

You have lovely hair as it is. Make the most of your natural waves. Have a look at the merwave website for advice. Don't need to buy all their products but I found their mouse really enhances my waves

JMAngel1 · 13/08/2022 13:14

I think it looks lovely as is.
Maybe try to embrace your gorgeous waves and plait it after you've washed it to give it even more body - could be a nice change.
Also try a top knot when putting it up rather than at back of your head - more current.

Oh goodness, I used the Merwave products last year and a LOT of my hair fell out, it was awful! Thank goodness for pregnancy thickening my hair back up...

Plaiting it is a good idea! I need to practice top knots, I'm really so useless with doing hair 😅

Thanks for the lovely comments by the way everyone, I was worried I was going to be told I looked like a scarecrow and a pixie cut was in order!

Your hair down is stunning.

Floralnomad · 13/08/2022 13:40

Leave it alone it looks lovely when it’s down .

Arnaquer · 13/08/2022 17:33

@HairOclock gosh that's not good!

HSKAT · 13/08/2022 17:38

I agree your hair is lovely.

I think experimenting with different hairstyles would make you feel better.

Easy ones for a busy life;
Plaits
Bun on top of head (messy one)
Pony tails - I prefer high ones
Half up half down with top half being plaited

Do a treatment every week, garnier hair food is amazing. Otherwise I'd be happy if my hair air dried like that!

MerryMarigold · 13/08/2022 17:43

I'd do curtain bangs. Actually I did (last month)! I have similar hair. I wear it in a messy bun higher up my head, which you could do for a change. It also falls into lovely curls when taken down (when it's not hot like this). I never blow dry.

Sprig1 · 13/08/2022 17:47

Keep it as it is and just get a trim. I have v similar hair to you (and live on a farm), I have just dyed the bottom half of my hair bright pink, just for fun, for the summer. Do you fancy something like that? You sound like you are a bit bored of it. I have never dyed my hair before but I did it myself and it looks fab. I am really pleased with it and have had great feedback from everyone who has seen it.

MerryMarigold · 13/08/2022 17:47

Ps. This is not me! You can still easily put this length hair up.

I think your hair could be naturally curly if you embraced it and started styling it to encourage / enhance the curls

I did the CGM for years and had a curly cut in January actually, it does go curlier but to be honest I just find it too much work to keep up with and maintain throughout the week compared to what I do now

I sort of am a bit bored of it but also have been enjoying how easy to look after it has been lately, was more worried I looked a mess due to the absolute minimum time spent on it Grin I'm not against adding a bit of life to it with colour though, although maybe not while pregnant

Love that! Question, how do you do your messy buns? As in what do you use to tie it up, hair ties?

Another question for you all... I'm going to a wedding on the weekend, hair up or down? I promise I will blow dry it just this once Grin
