Anti chafing stick for dc

PeacheyPeach · 12/08/2022 11:53

Do you use anti chaffing rub for your dc on holiday?
My dd always ends up with sore inside legs with being in the pool, sea, last time I ended up putting vaseline on to act as a barrier but should I use this type of product instead?
Just don't want her to end up with hang ups about her body from a young age, or when she looks back and remembers me putting chub rub on her?? Or am I over thinking things!!

I haven't personally, my DC have seemed fine, but you can buy products which are targeted more at runners and so have 'sporty' branding rather than 'chub rub' vibes, if that helps?

I actually just use KY jelly if I'm doing a long run on a hot day but I suppose that also has the potential to traumatise your child. 😂

What causes this? It's not something I've ever experienced myself or with my kids

If she is getting sore legs, you're right to prevent it.

mahjongmonkey · 12/08/2022 12:15

Bodyglide works really well.

PeacheyPeach · 12/08/2022 12:16

@EarringsandLipstick she has sturdy legs!!

3b action cream is good

LolaJ87 · 12/08/2022 14:16

Advice from someone with sturdy thighs:

  • Fully dry off after swimming
  • Apply lots of caldesene powder (soothes any existing irritation and prevents friction)
  • Wear shorts that cover the inner thighs for any walking around, chub rub shorts under dresses/skirts are ideal too
I get not wanting to give her a complex but I really, really wish I had someone to help me handle this stuff before I wasted time on trips away and sunny days with painful rashes and not wanting to go anywhere.
PacificState · 12/08/2022 14:29

3B cream is the absolute dog's bollocks. I've been amazed by how well it works.

hugoagogo · 12/08/2022 14:36

Compeed stick.

kittykarate · 12/08/2022 14:59

Body Glide.

Some people just seem to have impervious thighs, but for me if there is the slightest 'dampness' and they go red raw in not time.

PeacheyPeach · 12/08/2022 17:36

Thank you everyone. I will go to.boots tomorrow and have a look what's available.

@LolaJ87 yes I'd rather she be comfortable. I will put some on aswell so she doesn't feel singled out and tell her it's because we've been in the pool ( I am actually planning on wearing some shorts under my dresses on the eve , so maybe she can do the same )

Stick deodorant also works quite well for this.

itsnotmeitsu · 12/08/2022 21:23

I use Lanacane, which is an anti-chafing thing, under my bra strap and on my thighs if wearing a dress.

Thatboymum · 12/08/2022 21:25

I use Asda little angels liquid talc it works wonders for my chub rub

Bananaman123 · 12/08/2022 21:29

Gold bond on Amazon was a game changer for me.

EpcotEveryDay · 12/08/2022 21:30

What age is dc? My son is 7 and we use 'bum cream' (sudocrem etc) for his Swim shorts rub. Dd2 is 13 and often gets chafing from swimsuits on holiday. We make it no big thing. It's the clothes not their bodies.

ShakespearesSisters · 12/08/2022 21:38

My 8 year old got very sore legs as you describe when we went to the beach and her shorts got wet. Must remember to take my liquid talc next time. It's amazing for my chub rub. I always used to put cycle shorts under a dress to prevent it until I tried this recommend by a friend. As it's "talc" it can just be part of drying process rather than something to stop her legs rubbing.

Happymum12345 · 13/08/2022 02:39

Lanacane anti chaffing gel.

ColeslawSandwich · 13/08/2022 03:06

Dove rollerball deodorant works great too.

Nat6999 · 13/08/2022 04:16

I use Mitchum cream deodorant, I use it in all my places where skin is rubbing on skin, inner thighs, under boobs & c section scar. I have had fungal infections in these areas, if I have an infection I mix the deodorant & either sudocrem or canestan cream.

TheBermudaTriangle · 13/08/2022 04:56

Lush sell a sweet-scented body-powder that doubles as being anti-chafing. Obviously need to apply to dry skin:

Lush could be more acceptable in terms of cool-ness factor.

Body Glide.

My 6 year old DS is the same. He's really skinny but damp shorts really irritate his inner thighs.

MistyRock · 13/08/2022 13:43

Don't waste your money on expensive things like Bodyglide (I've used it) just use a stick deodorant ime they work just as well. Don't bother with liquid talc etc.

MistyRock · 13/08/2022 13:44

Or roll on deodrant.
