Hockey boots with moulded studs

Dd needs hockey trainers/boots with moulded studs for school in September. Does anyone know where I can find any in a size 6.5 or 7, preferably online, at a reasonable price? I'm struggling to find much less than £60. Her feet have grown so will also need school shoes, non marking trainers and so on and I can't afford £60+ on something that will only be worn once a week.

Recommendations for non marking trainers available able in a size 6.5 or 7 also great fully received!

Sports Direct is good for non marking trainers - you just need to trawl the website.

Hockey shoes are expensive as they have extra protection built into the sides. I’m surprised they specify the studs though as hockey is played on Astro these days. I usually get ours from my local sports shop for about £45. I find ASICS ones fit her feet better.

That is strange. Hockey is usually played on astro so the studs seem a strange request. You can get football astros in Sports Direct etc which will be fine at a junior level.

Actual hockey shoes are sort of dimpled. I'm attaching a photo which hopefully works!

I also think non-marking trainers = white soles. Dont need anything fancy.

Playing on astro it's fine to wear moulded football studs for all sports. The cheapies will be fine!

Ds played in a hockey team and only the older/development centre players had actual hockey boots.

Thanks, school uniform info says hockey/football boots with moulded studs, so will look at football boots and the recommendations above. Asics usually a good fit, I'm just a bit confused about the moulded studs thing and those with seem to be sold out in her size. sports pitches mostly grass although they do have and astro turf pitch as well. I presume whoever wrote the policy knew what they meant but I don't and now school is shut for the summer. (recent growth spurt so was waiting for feet to catch up before buying shoes!)

As an example @Fitzfatsfeist these would be fine for both grass and astro. I've worn Sondico adult boots before - they're not the best but they are absolutely fine for PE lessons. If they rip, remember you have a guarantee on the boots and if they can't hold up to normal playing then you can return them. I have returned quite a few pairs of boots that have not lasted more than a few months, and I'm wearing them for 5+ hours a week, not just a PE lesson.

That's great, thank you. These are the ones I had narrowed it down to so glad I'm on the right track!

Sondico are quite narrow (great for my ds, but not dd) so you might need to try a few brands but sports direct are usually fairly affordable

My daughter plays everything on Astro and has to wear moulded studs. I've bought all her boots from eBay so far, and then resold them. Never paid more than a tenner and generally make back the money give or take. I have noticed that the boots need to be slightly bigger though. She's a 6.5 now and her boots are a 7 to fit comfortably with the pe socks.

@Fitzfatsfeist Have a search on Amazon for Kookaburra hockey shoes. You may have to trawl a bit to find the size but generally they are good quality hockey shoes and not hugely expensive.

RomainingCalm · 10/08/2022 21:27

Does the school website give any clues as to what sport(s) your DD will actually be playing? If they play predominantly hockey it's likely to be on an astro pitch in which case the football boots above may not be allowed.
