Hospitality Guest - undecided what to wear?!

I've been invited to hospitality at Lord's next Thursday by a client. I've been on maternity leave for a year and still carrying some weight around my middle.

It's looking like it should be a warm day. We're starting with breakfast, all the way through to afternoon tea.

I need whole outfit ideas - something that is going to be lightweight, comfortable but also smart enough. I have a lovely white midi dress but I find if I wear it for too long, it starts to feel really heavy and so I'm not sure I can wear it for the whole day.

I'm also not keen on wearing heels - having not worn them for so long!

I'm 32, 5'4", size 14.

No need for heels, I’ve never been to Lords but have been in other cricket hospitality. If you are desperate for height some wedges or wedged smart espiradilles (sp?). How about a jumpsuit? Scarf is always good for a cover up on the arms both for sun and when it gets chilly. I always take a smart brimmed sun hat as depending on where the seats are, having the sun in your eyes for a lot of the day is not nice. You could channel the cricket theme and get a neutral boater with a black ribbon, or a Panama? Also a old fashioned fan, you can pick them up from Amazon for a few £.

How about something like this with wedges or sandals? It's smart enough for cricket hospitality but also comfortable to sit in all day. I'd be tempted to have some pumps in my bag for getting to and from Lords but take my wedges for the day.

Sounds counter-intuitive if it's hot but have a look at M&S 'stay cool' slips. They help dresses to hang better and stop some of that horrible hot and sweaty feeling.

As Panic said, don't forget a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, a nice bag. Take sun cream as you can find yourself sitting in the sun for hours.

Have a great time.

Me again - so it's now looking like Wednesday might be a bit of a washout so needing to rethink outfit options.

Any rainy/wet weather ideas?

I’ve been to Lords on a washout day albeit 20+ years ago. There are inside and outside sections to each box so wear what you feel comfortable in and take a brolly or rain coat for travel purposes. If I went again now I’d wear a midi dress with either very smart trainers (allowed?) or sandals and maybe a light oversized blazer from somewhere like Cos. I’d still take a hat and/or suncream as a PP suggested as it looks like there will be some play and it’s possible to burn even in 23 degree cloudy days at these grounds.

Men will be in chinos and a blazer so it’s much more lunch at a nice restaurant smart than ascot ladies day smart.
Its really good fun, enjoy!
