Made to measure suit?

I’m hoping the hive mind can help with recommendations for a fairly traditional made to measure suit for a birthday present for DP. London based pleased. I don’t have any clue which ones are good or to be avoided.

Savile Row... the epicentre of the tailoring industry in the UK. Is there a directory or listing of some kind? Names like Gieves & Hawkes or Anderson & Sheppard are world famous but the broad sheet newspapers often feature younger and up-and-coming start ups.

How much do you want to spend OP because that will affect the recommendations people can give. Also there's a difference between a totally bespoke suit from scratch and one based on an existing suit but tailored to fit. The latter is obviously cheaper but worth considering.

thanks for the replies - ideally not more than 2k. What’s the difference between made to measure and bespoke? I know bespoke is totally made up for you but not sure how m2m is different. Are all Saville Row tailors kosher? I know some Harley st drs have some more shady aspects than you’d expect from the road?

Savile Row is such an expensive street to trade from, in central London, and the kudos so great that it's probably quite self-policing. It may also be above your budget for fully bespoke which I understand (having not been a customer personally) to start at about 3=£3.5k. However, DS got a brilliant suit, and five shirts, made in the back streets behind Orchard Street in Singapore for £600.
