Lip filler - bumps on skin, overcharged

After receiving an unexpected bonus I decided to use part of the cash for lip fillers.

Like everyone I was wary of ending up with a duck pout so found a so called reputable individual in the heart of London's West End.

She is known for being subtle when it comes to lip fillers - problem is I can hardly see any difference except for these lumps on either side of my chin. It looks really odd. I had my filler done on Thursday - is it worth calling them up to see if it's anything to worry about or should it disappear by the end of the week? I know that often the lips get lumps but not the skin, although she did inject quite a lot into the skin.

The other issue is I feel quite conned and don't know if I should try and do anything about it. When I had an online consultation I was told by the consultant herself it would cost between £500 - £700 (pricey I know!!!). However on the day, after I was told if I put in a review there and then I would get £50 off my treatment, I was then told by the nurse the cost was £1040!!! And the only difference I can see are these lumps on my chin where the filler was injected!

Do you think if I emailed them and explained how I felt misled/can see no difference/hint that I'm thinking of writing a real review (which would mess up all their 5 star reviews) they might give me a discount at all?

All I can say is I'm never having any filler ever again.

Carole😞

Just contact them and explain the situation, no need for complaints. I am sure they will ask you to come back and do a proper job to your specification. I had this with botox.

£1,000 for lip fillers?! I know your in London but that can't be right! Usually a couple of hundred max?! How many ml did you have?

premiumwine · 08/08/2022 21:30

I paid £900 for 3ml of filler recently with an experienced doctor. That was for different types of filler injected in 4 different areas eg thinner product in lips, tear trough, thicker product in cheeks, chin. Also had some aftercare products included too and a follow up appt just in case of issues like this. In comparison your clinic seems to have overcharged you.

PicturesOfDogs · 08/08/2022 21:34

How much did you have?
It’s usually about £250 to £300 for 1ml?
£1000 is insane!

premiumwine · 08/08/2022 21:34

you should arrange an appointment to check the lumps on your chin, lip filler shouldn’t migrate that far. Could be swelling? Weird

also you should get clarification on why the price dramatically increased. It could be that the £500 is for 1ml, £700 is for 1.5ml and £1000 is for 2ml or something? How much did you get injected?

Carole18 · 08/08/2022 21:43

She injected 1.5ml but I've literally compared photos before and after and can hardly see any change at all, except for these awful lumps on my skin.

Will see what they look like tomorrow morning and then send an email to them and wait and see how they respond.

Deff go back. That's a crazy amount esp when you're not happy! I had 1.5ml between my top and bottom and can see a subtle change. Paid £120!

Changemaname1 · 08/08/2022 21:46

When you say injected into the skin what do you mean ? Did she also inject an area that’s not your lips ?

sageandbasil · 08/08/2022 21:46

Tbf that was discounted so mot really comparable. I don't think the proper price was too far off though

MySleevesMayBeGreen · 08/08/2022 21:50

@sageandbasil which area was this?
The Dr I go to for underarm Botox charges £350 for lips which is just a little too expensive for me.

premiumwine · 08/08/2022 21:54

was this the first time you had lip filler?

The first time I had my lips treated, it didn’t last. I was 20 & my body metabolised the product very quickly and the difference was non existent. I went to another doctor 6 months later, he couldn’t believe I had filler before as he couldn’t detect any remaining product after massaging.

Subsequent top ups lasted longer though.

deedledeedledum · 08/08/2022 22:01

Several people have asked what you jean by lumps on the CHIN. Did she inject your chin? Where on the chin and why? Can you post a picture? Or do you mean she injected your lips and it migrated to the chin. Why if you went in for lips did she do your chin?

elm26 · 08/08/2022 22:10

I pay £240 for 1ml with very experienced injectors. Never had a problem with mine, still love them a year after my last top up.

Can you post a picture?

MaraScottie · 08/08/2022 22:13

I'm not sure a medic should be injecting 1.5m into the lips all in one go? Don't they normally spread it out over 2 sessions if it's more than 1m?

Sarahcoggles · 08/08/2022 22:19

Why would lip filler be injected into the chin?

Minecraftatemychild · 08/08/2022 22:19

I’d be threatening to sue, that doesn’t sound right at all.

And I’d post a REAL review with photos so that these scammers don’t suck in others.

userxx · 08/08/2022 22:20

How much ??? Jeez, that a pisstake price.

Pleasecouldihavesomeadvice · 08/08/2022 22:22

They take 2 weeks to settle. So you injector likely won’t even see you in that time.

It does sound far too expensive though

Elsiid · 08/08/2022 22:35

Can you post a photo? That doesn't sound right at all

Carole18 · 09/08/2022 00:19

She injected a lot on the skin above and below the lips which I thought was strange and not too much in the lips. Will definitely email them tomorrow and depending on how they respond I will post an honest review. The lump looks like a spot about to come to the surface.

They take ages to settle though. For the first week or more there's swelling, brusing and general discolouration. Give it till a fortnight after you had it before writing any reviews.

PicturesOfDogs · 09/08/2022 08:01

Injecting above the lips is fine if that’s what you wanted, for things like smokers lines/marionette lines. But it doesn’t sound like that’s what you had/wanted?

You need to clarify with them.
£1000 for 1.5ml is crazy

Minoloso · 09/08/2022 08:17

Why didn’t you question the amount when you were asked to pay? You’ve been seriously overcharged!

I pay £220 for 1ml but I get that you wanted to go to a highly rated place.

Don’t just leave a review. You must ask to go back for a follow up & explain your concerns. It’s totally normal to go back so don’t worry! You need to talk to them about the overcharging too.

GrazingSheep · 09/08/2022 08:20

Did you leave a review at the time of your treatment to get £50 discount?

thethoughtfox · 09/08/2022 08:24

The lumps sound like injection site marks. These will fade. Did you get lip and chin filler? That would explain your post (which was a little confusing) and the cost.
