Is this appropriate for evening wedding reception?

Help! I'm new here and looking for some advice. Have a wedding to go to where the ceremony is early then reception much later in the evening. I'm assuming it's the done thing to change into a different outfit for the evening which is stressing me out! Is it acceptable to wear black trousers and black strappy sandals with this top for the evening? Or is animal print a big no-no?

Sorry, I'm a bit rubbish at all this so grateful for any advice.

Looks fine

Aquamarine1029 · 08/08/2022 18:36

I like it. Some gold jewelry would be a very nice addition.

SunnyKlara · 08/08/2022 19:02

Looks fine, although the weddings i have been to with ceremony-gap-evening do, nobody (that I have noticed) has gotten changed.

If I'm in a hotel there, I might pop into something comfy to lounge about the hotel room for a few hours, before putting my original outfit back on, but that's it.

Looks lovely, I changed into a black sparkly wide leg jumpsuit. Most people change when there's a gap, or when the bride changes.

ChubbyCaterpillar · 08/08/2022 19:04

I've never known people to change for the evening. But I do think evening guests wear slightly more eveningy clothes. Animal print is on at the moment so I think that's fine.

I've never been to a wedding where people got changed - even long, formal ones. Outfit looks fine, though.

girlmom21 · 08/08/2022 19:44

I wouldn't change but that'll be fine

knackeredagain · 08/08/2022 19:46

Agree, I’ve always worn the same outfit for day and evening but if you do want to change that’s a nice top.

Pez11 · 08/08/2022 21:09

Thank you all, I appreciate your comments. Feel better now that I know I don't have to get changed, but if I do decide to then my planned evening outfit will be fine.

Much appreciated 🙂

I’d defo change because your top is lovely & I’d want to show it off!
Add lots of tasteful bling & enjoy your evening.

Divebar2021 · 08/08/2022 21:26

For my brothers wedding the ceremony and reception happened at the hotel where a lot of guests were also staying. Some people did change between the 2 events - mostly changing into more casual outfits for the evening, taking heels off etc. it’s fine - no pressure to do anything either way.

SushiShopSearch · 08/08/2022 21:30

I've never seen anyone changing at a wedding. Too much palaver.

Thank you.

The venue is a country house hotel. I expect those coming from far have booked rooms but I'm fairly local so will be able to go home for a few hours in between. I haven't worn the top yet so agree it will be an opportunity to show it off with some tasteful bling!

I'm wearing this dress for the ceremony:

Love the dress too.

pigeonstreet123 · 09/08/2022 14:13

Hmm im gonna say black trousers and leopard print top is a bit 90s

Keep the dress on for the duration

girlmom21 · 09/08/2022 15:40

That dress is lovely - stick with that!

bananaboats · 09/08/2022 21:46

I've never seen anyone change during a wedding. Tbh I think the top and black trousers is probably a bit casual for a wedding reception, I'd just stick with the dress

DramaAlpaca · 09/08/2022 22:14

Another vote for keeping the dress on all day. I don't think that top is dressy enough for a wedding.

AreolaGrande · 09/08/2022 22:18

The top is too officey especially with black trousers. Very 90's as someone else has said.

Just wear the dress for the duration OP. It's much better.
