Dress fir preschool graduation

I have worked out that women dress up for birthday parties and other preschool events. I turned up at softplay in shirts yesterday and everyone else was in nice dresses.
Next weekend is the graduation ceremony if the preschool and I wanted to find something to wear. My work dresses already make me feel frumpy. I am 5ft 9, 10/12 and in my mid forties. Does anyone have any suggestions? Would any of these work?

And the op has already explained she had been feeling a bit ‘frumpy’ and wanted a change from shorts and a t-shirt. That’s not a crime, regardless of the fact that others didn’t feel the need to buy a new dress.

I wore this cotton dress (minus the grey socks!) to my son's nursery graduation last week. I didn't buy it for the occasion, but I find a semi smart cotton summer dress a really useful item so if you don't have anything like that then it might be a good investment :) some of the suggestions on this thread are lovely.

There were a range of outfits - from jeans to dresses. I don't think anyone looked out of place, it was relaxed and everyone just focused on the kids having a nice morning.

I ordered the yellow tiered boden dress but although I appreciate linen can be a bit see through it was very see through and the white maxi dress was huge so I am having to send both back. I am in London tomorrow so will try to have a quick look for something. I generally rewear my clothes a lot so it will definitely be reused a lot, I have a few other house parties etc I can wear something to. I am off back to scour the Internet.

Considering your height and size I reckon a lot would look fab on you. I'm a touch shorter and fatter but hoping I can get away with a maxi and look half decent

I think the pink hush isn't doing much for me and the black and white my body is too long so it doesn't sit in the right place.

Nobody's child m and s sale really like it but probably not relaxed enough for this occasion
Black and white m and s I love the pockets and the style but I don't know if I can pull it off.

Something smart/casual summery is fine

The 2 M&s ones look the best

The green/yellow/pink Nobody’s Child is v flattering and stylish.

The purple one looks good on you and is my fave of the lot.

Pink is ok but something is off with the proportions- I can't quite put my finger on it.

The first b&w is ok

The colourful one is ok

The second black and white one with the zebra print looks a bit shapeless - do you have an elasticated waist belt you can try with it?

And the 2 last ones from hush (plus the m and s one with a belt)
