best cleanser for sensitive skin

just that really.

Tried Avene Gentle Milk Cleanser and surprised it had fragrance in. Skin felt uncomfortable and experienced some stinging.

The best one until now has been simple purifying cleansing lotion until I had an allergic reaction the other day.

I have extremely sensitive skin myself and have only ever got on with CeraVe hydrating cleanser.

anewbook · 07/08/2022 15:56

@SpringAspen
Thanks! I will try it 😀

Dermalogica ultra calming but it’s ££.

CoconutAmericano · 07/08/2022 17:15

I like lush ultrabland

Me too!

I’ve got on well with First Aid Beauty’s pure skin cleanser.

I use Cerave Micellar water which I use on a cotton pad
I find rubbing my face with eg a face wash makes it worse
Cerave moisturiser and serum afterwards
I'm evangelical about CeraVe
I'm 57 and my skin has never looked better

Baldieheid · 07/08/2022 18:34

I use the cerave hydrating cleanser. It's a wash off gel which doesn't foam, and my skin loves it. That's summertime, anyway. In winter I switch to the Superdrug Vitamin E cleansing balm, as that's really soothing for me.

Another vote for CereVe. Vanicream products also a really good option.

Indoctro · 07/08/2022 19:37

Baby lotion

Best thing I've ever found for cleaning my sensitive skin.

anewbook · 07/08/2022 22:21

Lots of great suggestions
thanks !

CeraVe followed by CeraVe moisturiser, absolutely brilliant. It's nearly got rid of my Rosacea and someone described my skin as lovely the other day ,never thought that would happen!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/08/2022 22:27

And CeraVe micellar water is great for eye makeup remover before cleansing.

soupmaker · 07/08/2022 22:41

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor I have very, very sensitive skin and rosacea on my chin and cheeks. Does the CeraVe reduce the redness? I've not found anything that works on the redness.

Currently cleanse with Aldi hot cloth cleanser and use Aldi's dupe for La Prarie to moisturise along with rose oil for a boost. Somehow my skin doesn't mind Aldi stuff.

It works amazingly on dry, red skin. Takes about 3-4 weeks and suddenly I saw a difference. I thinks it's because it actually repairs the skin barrier ,it's brilliant stuff . I use the cleanser with a wash cloth and tepid water.

I used to get awful flaky skin especially at the sides of my nose, I don't get it at all now. Utterly miraculous and I've tried every lotion and potion out there!

Can you buy the Vanicream bar soap/cleanser in the UK? I stock up when I go abroad which is kind of a pain.

OP I like The Ordinary squalane cleanser for removing makeup, even works on waterproof mascara. I also use the hydrating Cerave cleanser.

Thanks everyone!
I have made a list and will try them !
Many thanks for all the suggestions 😀

La Roche Posay Toleraine.

Clinique Take the Day Off Oil (it's literally just inert oil).

I had terrible hassle with my skin about 2 years ago and those two were my only safe products.

Jollyhungry · 15/08/2022 21:08

La roche posay toleraine is my holy grail cleanser. Its quite gentle so you may need a separate eye makeup remover. I use a simple oil cleanser.

Tallulasdancingshoes · 15/08/2022 22:13

I’d second La Roche Posay.
