Which skincare ingredient is making my skin crawl?

I can’t seem to find a base that doesn’t make my skin feel like it’s crawling, it’s a horrible sensation. It’s definitely related to the base as it doesn’t happen when I wear nothing or overnight.
I have ridiculously oily skin so I’m thinking maybe that is triggering it as it gets worse as the day goes on. Could the oils in my skin be changing the formula?
The only thing that feels ok during the day is LRP matte sunscreen. I thought hyaluronic acid might be the culprit as that’s in so many things but I’m not sure.

Any thoughts or advice please?

I think I have similar, I don't know what does it except that I can't stand the feeling of a heavy cream or oil on my skin, it just feels generally upset.
I mainly use benefit porefection as my base now so I am not much help....

Porefessional, or whatever it is called

I have oily skin and also get this as sensation.
I find using a mineral foundation helps and minimum products on my cheeks.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing, it’s good to know it’s not just me. @Plump82 what mineral foundation do you use please?

Most likely ingredients are fragrance, SPF and bismuth oxychloride. Generally, mineral powder makeup doesn't contain them, but you need to check.

It's actually one from Amazon by a company called Intelligent Cosmetics. I didn't want to spend much on something I didn't know whether I'd like but actually I'm getting on really well with it and don't feel the need to spend more on the likes of Bare Minerals or Lily Lolo

The pot it comes in is terrible and you have to be careful not to get it every where. Also less is more and really buff it in and it gives a lovely finish. I also don't feel as oily with it so don't have to worry about getting all shiny.

My guess is it's Silicone. Primers are full of the stuff.

If you have ridiculously oily skin it could be a couple of things. Oil (including sebum) breaks up oil, makeup and sunscreen. (See - oil cleansing.) If you over-exfoliate with chemical and/or physical exfoliators, you may have disrupted your skin barrier or caused micro-tears, allowing particles to irritate your skin. Sometimes products react against each other because they are not supposed to be layered together. It could be that you are over-stimulating oil production by not hydrating enough.

I would recommend a simple oil cleanser like the Cerave one. (La Roche Posay and Avene have them too… They’re described as shower oil cleansers, but they are the same thing.) Massage it gently onto dry skin and then emulsify with tepid water. All of these products rinse cleanly and if you haven’t been wearing makeup, that would be clean enough. If you have worn makeup, you might find a hydrating or moisturizing foaming cleanser is required to remove residue. (Curel from either Superdrug or Boots is the best one I have tried.) I also rate their moisture lotion. It’s a milky formula and it uses glycerine to hydrate, not HA. (Actually haven’t found a Curel product I don’t love…)
