Old skool night out

I am going to a club for an "old skool" night in a few weeks - 90s r n b type music I think.

I am an old fogey and will probably be 20'years older than the next person, apart from my group of friends, but have agreed to go for various reasons.

What do I wear? Are trainers acceptable? "Fashion" trainers I think. I do not have a clue. I am early 40s, size 12, 5' 6"

From the 70s but could easily fit into the 90s vibe.

Fashion trainers would be a good idea but maybe go the whole All Saints vibe with cargo trousers.

If you want to you can get 90s clubbing wear on Ebay/Etsy etc. It probably wouldn't fit me now though and I've lost the slim toned limbs (stomach) I had back then!

OK for starters disco is not 90's.

Suggest watching a couple of episodes of Friends for pointers - but I would try to find a long black slip with spaghetti straps, with a white tight ring necked T shirt underneath - a choker round your neck, a denim jacket & braid your hair. Oh, and hiking boots.

Alternatively - sadly, grunge...

Baggy trousers, a tight top and trainers. You definitely won't be the oldest one there!

I recall wearing lots of tight mini dresses and platform shoes. Short skirts and tight tops. Handkerchief tops.
