Flesh coloured leggings? Seriously ?

mallowchick · 03/08/2022 12:51

Almost fell over my child after catching sight of an older lady wearing flesh coloured leggings and cropped top from behind! Honestly I thought she was naked, no joke. I could see her bum crack! If my mother went out like this I would be disgusted. Why on Earth would anyone wear this? Some fashion trends should be binned lol

@tobee at a bit of a distance both types look very much like the Emperors New Clothes!

mackthepony · 03/08/2022 17:01

Bloody Nora

That's just awful

More like this

😱

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 03/08/2022 17:17

They are vile and who in their right mind would wear them. I wear black leggings but only with long tops/blouse etc but I see soo many wearing them with short tops and bums that look like a bag of spuds and all on show, please people if you wear leggings cover up the bums and camel toe as not a good look.

RamblingEclectic · 03/08/2022 17:40

I've seen those, always makes me double take. I also saw a child in small shorts that were very close to their pale skin tone at a little paddling area at my local park. I had originally thought they were a bit bigger/older than usual to be let naked in there before I realized they were wearing small shorts.

I've seen a lot of see through leggings of all sorts this summer. The material of them seems to be getting thinner, even some of the black ones show everything from behind.

DahliaDreamer · 03/08/2022 17:51

Oh lordy that's grim beyond words

Hakeandling · 03/08/2022 17:53

My daughter came home with some of these after a shopping trip with her friend. I’ve told her they are NOT to leave the house

same. I was wondering if they are actually tights.

The Sun (sorry) - 2018

ChilliPB · 03/08/2022 21:52

I wouldn’t wear them but the casual ageism is horrible. Talk about fashions/clothes etc but don’t make it about the wearer’s age.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 03/08/2022 21:59

Furrydogmum wow just WOW that looks like she is totally naked and is not flattering at all. Have these people got no mirrors or family to tell them no way in hell going out like that, my son would have me sectioned.

CandyLeBonBon · 03/08/2022 22:00

The ageism on here is probably worse than the leggings tbh.

declutteringmymind · 03/08/2022 22:05

I've seen them and done a double take. Tbh the person wearing them had a top body and she was getting all the attention.

Hopefully winter will set in sooner.

Plumtreebob · 03/08/2022 23:01

@CandyLeBonBon - the OP mentioned age but no one else has.

mallowchick · 03/08/2022 23:31

What's wrong with what I said @CandyLeBonBon ? I was making reference to the fact it was quite a shock to see anyone in flesh coloured leggings but to see an older lady in clothing that I would assume is aimed at a younger market. Likewise I wouldn't expect to see a 14 year old girl wearing a paisley pattered skirt to her ankles, a cardigan from Bon marche and wee Velcro granny shoes. Some styles and trends are geared for certain ages.

I hate leggings. However, whilst I get why some women choose them over jeans or trousers, I am glad I did not witness what the OP saw.

DiscoStusMoonboots · 04/08/2022 08:20

I went to the pub the other day and a woman was wearing skin-coloured leggings with a (very visible) black thong underneath. It was quite a statement.

StarlightLady · 04/08/2022 09:25

It is not a style l would go for, but there again some people may not like what l wear either.

But what a shame when Style and Beauty, designed for tips and advice surely, becomes Judge and Criticise.

Cluckycluck · 04/08/2022 10:20

A trend that looks awful on everyone.

Those ruched bum crack leggings are awful too.

serenedream · 04/08/2022 17:27

Thin and tacky clothes are sadly usually available in areas of poverty, or at very low price points, so it's kinda like laughing at someone perceived to be 'beneath' us. It's rather tasteless to do that really. A bit like class bashing, except most people on MN are actually WC and desperate to cast it off as opposed to WC and proud (of which many are financially very well placed and at ease with their identity).

Plumtreebob · 04/08/2022 17:52

@serenedream Given as someone pointed out the Kardashians are at the forefront of this trend I think you’d be hard pushed to describe them as on the poverty line. If it helps you I have mainly seen it on teenage girls leaving the local private school. Am I still ok to think this trend is horrible to look at as they are likely the same socio-economic class as me?

Deathraystare · 07/08/2022 19:15

I remember not so long ago when people were wearing very thin leggings (black) and you could read their knicker label!

When in a bra shop I nearly said to someone that they had forgotten their skirt/trousers but I think it was deliberate to wear them so I shut up!!

GettingStuffed · 07/08/2022 19:21

You will probably have to scroll down but I had to tell someone to look a her ankles before he would believe she was actually wear something www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/womans-flesh-coloured-leggings-cause-13511552

I've seen the same whilst driving - it's actually dangerous! And hideous!
Imagine having such appalling dress sense.

I was driving as well, not good at all
