Skincare brands

Hi, just looking for skincare recommendations.

I was using tropic which I liked but then this year I've been given several other brands to try as pressies.
I'm currently using Estée Lauder which is nice but I don't think it hydrates my skin enough however, I find they do good deals so the price is quite reasonable.
I was thinking of going back to tropic as I did like it but the package I used to buy has gone up to £160! I really liked their moisturiser and skin greens though.
Any thoughts on decent brands. I'm 43 with decentish skin but it does has a couple of blemishes. My skin is quite fair.

Clinique is the brand for me. No supporting evidence, I just like it.

For actives, I use tretinoin from Dermatica. It’s made a huge difference to my pigmentation, skin texture, acne and fine lines. So annoying when people pimp their referral codes, so I won’t. I genuinely recommend the product.

Of course - I'm not saying that brands aren't any good at all, I have a few brands that I really like (or usually like one or two of their products).

I think it's just a really good thing for consumers that there has been a move away from thinking that expensive skincare automatically equals better results.

I use Sisley, although im not sure if i would purchase again once ive used this up. Ive been using it for around 8 months or more but recently i have started developing spots around the chin, and noticed my skin drier after using the cleanser.

ive tried loads of skincare stuff and its great at first but then i end up with dry patches and spotty skin

Caudilie is my fave.. their moisturising range is fantastic.

Skincare brands I love which are typically more focused on formula / backed by clinical testing:

Paula’s Choice - retinol, vit c, exfoliants moisturisers
La Roche-Posay - moisturisers
The Ordinary - various actives
The Inkey List - cleansers, various actives
Cerave - cleansers / moisturisers
Cetaphil - cleansers / moisturisers

Agree with all these but have also recently got into Korean skincare which us a rabbit hole you can go down in and of itself. My favourite product is Cosrx snail mucin! Sounds gross but it does wonders for my rosacea.

The main thing with any skincare is to identify what skin issues you want to target and shop accordingly. Particularly if you have sensitive skin but for anyone really the website what's in my jar is brilliant whatsinmyjar.com/

Agree with PAFMO and Farmageddon on ingredients vs brands. I've spent years being sucked in by gorgeous packaging and luxury marketing, only to find to my disappointment that a lot of it is just smoke and mirrors (recently been quite tempted by Tatcha, but even in the BF sales it's been hard to justify their prices for ingredients that don't seem out of the ordinary these days!).

These days I have a really pared down skincare 'routine' (which suits me well), which focuses on hydration, SPF, Vit A and Vit C. I've just started using a few Medik8 products (on the advice of my aesthetician) and I really rate them. They seem to suit my skin quite well and keep it hydrated (which, along with a little pigmentation, is my primary concern atm).

Otherwise I rate LRP (particularly their sunscreen), Clinique and Paula's Choice. I also like CosRX for (relatively) affordable serums, and their sunscreen is quite good too.

I used every high end skincare brand. Lamer, la praire, sunday riley, etc.

but the best is just tretinoin!.

now i only used la rosay posay moisturiser and beauty of joseon spf for morning routine

and nightine routine just tretinoin.

my skin looks like poreless and ‘glass skin’ look like. I dont wear powder or foundation anymore because my skin is that good now.

I have a former in-law who uses expensive skincare and make up, it's not worked out for them.
