I've had dyed blonde hair for the last 15 years- up until 2020 when in Covid lockdown I decided it would be wise to dye it red/auburn using box dye.
So for the past couple of years I've been box dying my hair red (only ever semipermanent).
I want to go back to blonde and I've applied a hair colour remover thinking this would restore me back to the light shade of blonde I was prior to the red dyes.
Hair has now gone an orangey colour but the remover has definitely taken out the deep red.
What's the next step to get it looking better and back to blonde -will I need a full colour? Foils? Will a toner work?

Your hair is still far too dark to tone. You'll need to lighten/bleach it, then tone, to get it back to blonde. You can either do the whole thing at once or gradually using highlights. Don't bother toning it now though.

That's how I ended up going blonde btw. I've been dying my hair various levels of warm brown/red for years. I did a colour remover to strip out the dye before recolouring. The stripped hair was a light orange so I thought I'd just keep going and lighten/tone it to blonde.

I'm back to copper now.

Thank you! Do you think it's worthwhile doing one more colour remover application or is this the best result I'll get from this?

In your experience- putting a blonde dye on this orange colour - will it take out all of the brassiness?

What colour is your hair? Naturally?

It might, your hair looks in pretty good condition so it's worth trying.

Caveat on my experience - I am not a hairdresser but have been dying my hair most of my adult life. You can try doing another colour remover. Then dye it using a light blonde ash colour. It won't turn it 'light ash blonde' but will have a toning effect and lighten a few shades.

If you're going to do this yourself, forget the box dye. Buy some permanent hair colour and developer and mix it yourself. It's much better quality, and works out cheaper.

I got my hair to about a Level 9 blonde using a light ash blonde dye and 30 volume developer.

It's a dark blonde/light brown

You will need to bleach it all over again, maybe 2 times more to lift the colour out enough to put your new shade over.

Red is a bugger. I spent the money and had a hairdresser do it. It was eye-watering expensive though.

Thank you so much- I'm going to try one more colour remover leave it a few days and then a light ash blonde if I need 🤞🤞
