Do swimsuits have any advantages over bikinis?!

Obviously if a person feels swimsuits are more flattering to them, that would be a reason to buy one. Are there any other reasons?!

I wear bikinis because I prefer the look of them and find them more comfortable under clothes, but I don't use them for actual swimming in the sea - just lazing on beaches and paddling. I'm thinking of taking up sea swimming and wondering whether to get a swimsuit (I've seen a nice one). I'm wondering:

  • Do swimsuits stay on better when swimming in the sea?
  • Do they keep you a bit warmer in chilly water?
Thanks for any thoughts on this!

Quite possibly @Riverlee
I would prefer just a simple suit though. I've been reading all the size charts, by looking at the wetsuits some brands do you can work out what height things are designed for.

If you like 2 pieces OP, you could have a look at triathlon sets - sports bra style tops and bottoms that are designed to stay put whether sea swimming or running

These sorts of things- lots of variety in shapes etc www.triathletesports.com/women/swim/womens-two-piece-swimsuits/

I’ve had Pour Moi basques and swimwear. The quality has been very good, but l have found their sizing to be all over the place and inconsistant.

I usually have Speedo swimsuit for fitness swimming and bikini for the beach but I quite fancy one of the two-tone swimsuits I've seen around this year.
Big advantage to swimsuits is that I can buy a standard size (12) and norks stay in whereas for a bikini I have to get a bra size fitting (34e). I don't know if this will still work with the fashion-type swimsuits

Sorry to slightly derail, can anyone recommend a good brand for taller than average women? I'd really like a regular swimsuit rather than a bikini for taking the kids swimming.

I'm 5'10" and about a size ten but because of my height something that fits on paper looks terrible and is really uncomfortable. I've tried Speedo and Adidas.

I have this issue too, and I am also busty. I have yet to find a swimsuit that fits both height and boobs !
I do have tankinis but they ruck up under a wetsuit and never seem to fit well at my waist. I really want a simple swimsuit.

For tall women's swimsuits, check out landsend - they are expensive full price but there's always a code for up to 40% off, plus they have good sales. They are great quality too - or at least they used to be. I bought mine 5+ years ago and it's still going strong so haven't bought one since,

These are v good quality but sadly not for the busty.

Can I just say thanks to you all for this thread, particularly the discussion about long bodied swimsuits. In a (slightly drunk) mood last night I impulse bought one off ASOS which arrived today and it's the most flattering, comfortable swimsuit I've ever had. Amazing.

Sorry! It was this one. I'm usually an 8 but I bought a 10 and it's very comfortable, Maybe a little loose around the chest but I suspect I can tie the strings more tightly
