Can adults use suncream that is for kids/babies?

I bought a bottle of suncream today but I didn't read the label properly and now I have got it home I see that it is for children and babies. Would it be ok for me to use it?

Yes.

Mrsjayy · 31/07/2022 21:38

I don't see why not its maybe not as heavily scented for kids or something but it will be fine to use.

RSitf · 31/07/2022 21:39

Yes. I use a baby factor 50 as it doesn’t sting like lots of the others do

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/07/2022 21:41

Of course .

liveforsummer · 31/07/2022 21:42

Of course, what do you think might be the problem?

TulipTuesday · 31/07/2022 21:42

I always use one made for kids. Usually factor 50 and less aggravating on my sensitive skin

Sprogonthetyne · 31/07/2022 21:42

It's fine, I buy that kind for my kids and use it aswell so I'm not carting two bottles to the beach. Actually a lot of kids/baby toiletries are great and much cheaper then equivalent adult ones, despite being basically the same.

changingroom · 31/07/2022 21:49

Yes, it's just marketed that way so it costs more.

Voice0fReason · 31/07/2022 21:53

Yes of course you can.
It tends to be a bit thicker and might be a bit kinder to your skin.

Caterina99 · 31/07/2022 22:01

Yep. I buy one type of sun cream (usually kids factor 50) and the whole family uses it.

SalviaOfficinalis · 31/07/2022 22:06

yes, smear it on and don’t forget your sun hat

Eastangular2000 · 31/07/2022 22:08

Genuine question, what on earth do you possibly think would stop you from being able to use it?

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 31/07/2022 22:10

Why would someting safe for children not be able to be use dby adults? What are you concerned about9

NameChanger567 · 31/07/2022 22:12

The reason I asked was because I thought that children's skin might be different in some way and that sun cream for kids might not work the same for adults because it could have different ingredients or something

NameChanger567 · 31/07/2022 22:13

it's good to know that it is ok to use

Children are just small humans. They're not a different species. Slap it on.

NannyR · 31/07/2022 22:16

Just double check its not the "fun to apply" green coloured stuff!!

LynneBenfield · 31/07/2022 22:18

Yes. It’ll be fine.

Often the kids ones aren’t as ‘cosmetically elegant’ as the adult ones, thicker/greasier/stickier formulations and often contain guide colour to help parents/caters with application. They perhaps don’t rub in quite as easily or leave a ‘white cast’ / slightly ghostly look on skin. Often these are things adults don’t want in their sun cream formulations and so they tend to differ in that way. As others say, they are often better for sensitive skins as they don’t have extra fragrances or glitters or weird additions some adult ones seem to have. They are just as good in terms of SPF and UVA rating though, just make sure it’s broad spectrum UVA protecting (either UVA in a circle symbol on the packaging or will have an ‘out of 5’ star rating in a circle on the packaging - you want 4 or more).

LynneBenfield · 31/07/2022 22:18

Carers not caters Hmm

Widgets · 31/07/2022 22:37

YES of course you can use it! just as you can also use baby wipes for your sticky hands or kids head to toe body wash (which I did recently on holiday as I forgot my shower gel) in fact, its probably better for sensitive skin, less chemicals etc....
