Lash growth serum which doesn’t change eye colour

Hello, I’m after a lash growth serum- trying to curb my addiction to lash extensions! I’ve read that some can change your eye colour after a period of use, and also cause a loss of orbital fat, leading to a sunken eye appearance! All very unwanted side effects. The ingredients are apparently bimatoprost, and other postaglandins including synthetic ones. So I’m trying to check ingredients but I’m not very good at interpreting all these chemicals!

I was looking at this serum and wondering if it wouldn’t have these risky ingredients, does anyone who is good with chemicals or beauty products know from this pic of the ingredients please? ….

or alternatively have any safe recommendations?

Been using UK Lash since December - no eye colour change, but great lash growth.

So I've done my research and found out that UK Lash does contain a prostaglandin: Isopropyl Cloprostenate

'An FDA-warning letter mentions among others ocular irritation, hyperemia, iris color change, macular edema and ocular inflammation that may happen and the FDA is generally not happy about prostaglandin analogs being used in cosmetic products.'

Thanks for letting us know OP as I will be using castor oil from now on!

I had no idea this was a thing! Been using Mavala off and on for a few years after it was recommended in here and it seems really good. No idea what’s in it though!

*The below has been opied from This website

*What are prostaglandins and how are they harmful?
Prostaglandins are chemical compounds with hormone-like effects, found naturally within the body’s tissue. They were originally used in eyedrops to treat glaucoma (an eye condition that damages the optic nerve), but it soon became apparent that people using eyedrops containing prostaglandins were also experiencing incredible eyelash growth. It wasn’t long before beauty brands caught on to this odd phenomenon – and soon enough, a large number of lash and brow serums launched featuring prostaglandins as the key ingredient.

However, people soon came to realise that serums packed with prostaglandins were also causing lots of undesirable – and at times, horrific – side effects. People using these products were experiencing eyelid inflammation, blurred vision, darkening of skin around the eyes, itchy, swollen and red eyes, loss of eyelashes over time and even irreversible ocular surface damage. In 2018, a well-known brand using prostaglandins was banned from being sold in Australia due to the side effects customers were experiencing. However, lots of brands have found ways around this – mainly by developing and using synthetic prostaglandins which boost the growth of eyelashes, but still have the same damaging effects.

The issue is, while these synthetic alternative ingredients can cause the same potential side effects, brands are not disclosing them. In other words, lots of people don’t even realise that their eyelash and eyebrow serums could be damaging their eyes.

To avoid eyelash serums that contain these chemical compounds, look out for (and avoid) the following ingredients:
Isopropyl Cloprostenate
Bitamoprost
Isopropanol Phenyl-hydroxy-pentene
Dihydroxy-cyclopentyl-heptenate
Dechloro Dihydroxy Difluoro
Ethylcloprostenolamide

I tried castor oil a few years ago, and whilst the existing hair was lovely and soft and shiny, it made no difference to growth whatsoever.

thedogdaysareover2 · 05/08/2022 11:16

I tried castor oil too and hated it. It stung my eyes each night before bed and was messy. Noticed no difference in my eyelashes unfortunately.

BeenthereGotTee · 05/08/2022 12:23

Rapidlash has been good for me but I do find I get eyelashes growing out of the middle corners of my eyes - does anyone else get this? I pluck them 😬

Have a look at Victoria health, she's campaigning for safe lash serums.

Thanks for recommending this website Blueuggboots, there’s an interesting article which explains it all very well, and a safe serum on it, all though very expensive…

My friend uses Eylure and definitely has darkening on the lash line. I thought for ages that she was wearing an odd orange brown eyeliner!

Sorry EyEnvy not Eylure
