Has anyone had this? I would like my top lip to look a little fuller but don't want filler.
Thanks!

I don't think this is a thing. Botox isn't a form of filler, it freezes muscles

Sorry! Ignore me, apparently it is

Strangely enough, I have just watched a TikTok video of someone saying they wish they hadn't had it done. Their before and after pictures didn't show much of a difference, she said it affected her speech when saying certain sounds, She struggled to drink properly and couldn't blow on food/drink to cool down. She'd previously had fillers and preferred the results from that to the lip flip

@itsthesoundofthepolice interesting, I did read about someone who struggled to drink properly after it! Might have to do a lot more research. I was hoping someone on here might have had it done.

Hi OP!

I work for a an aesthetic practitioner so we do procedures all day every day, however ONLY procedures that actually WORK and look good (and natural.)

A Botox lip flip will not add any volume to the lip as you requested. Moreover, Botox lasts about 3 months maximum. In the mouth area where you are constantly using the muscles, this is unlikely to last much time at all. I’m not sure why it’s even called a lip flip or even a lift, it does very little other than temporarily paralyse the top lip and philtrum which makes it hard to smile and can often give a constipated appearance.

Botox temporarily paralyses the muscles injected; so it works well for frown lines and light wrinkles but really not so well for lifting anything significantly or naturally. Lip lifts rarely look good, even when surgically enhanced.

You are, however, absolutely capable of achieving subtle volume and lift through lip filler as long as you go to the right practitioner. Make sure 1) they are MEDICALLY TRAINED AND INSURED (Doctor, surgeon or a nurse) 2) you can actually see the work they have done and make sure you like their style!

I can guarantee you would be happier with the results of a great lip filler procedure than Botox to achieve your goals!

Best of luck!

I’ve had a lip flip and love it. My main concern was a gummy smile and it really has helped that. It hasn’t made it at all difficult to smile but it has just made my smile nicer as there’s less gum on show. It has made my top lip look fuller but not very obviously so. It is certainly subtle but that is what I wanted and I think it’s nicer looking than fillers. The only down side for me is the longevity of this treatment - it lasts about ten weeks for me.

@AG247 thanks very much for your detailed response and I would definitely do my research! I'm going to have to look into it further for sure.

@Chicci1 wow 10 weeks, I had 6 months or something in my mind!

I had a lip flip a few months ago primarily because I wanted to smooth out the liners above my top lip but also because it makes the top lip a little fuller - like you, I do not want to go the filler route.

I wasn’t convinced tbh. I spent an awkward week or two while the muscle started to relax and my top lip contorted into a strange shape when I ate. It often went numb for periods of time too which made trying to kiss my partner strange, and I also had difficulty speaking at times. Aesthetically, my lines were a little smoother, and yes, my top lip a little fuller, but tbh, it was money down the drain. when I returned for a follow-up consultation after a fortnight, I concluded it just wasn’t for me. I think a tiny bit of filler will give a better result for what I want.

What I will suggest is that Botox wears off after a few months, so try it as you might get a good result. And if not,it will simply wear off. No-one noticed I had done anything, so suspect it will be the same for you too.

@coconotgrove thank you , and yes very true no harm in giving it a go because it's so quick to wear off

@LuckyAmy1986 I’ve had a botox lip flip and was utterly regretting it for a month and a half as my top lip ended up completely covering my upper teeth when I smiled. So I’d say that if your smile already covers part of your teeth start with a low dose, 1 or 2 units. After about a month and a half, once it had worn off a bit, I was really pleased with the result, allowed me to smile more and be so much more confident. It lasted for 4 months in total. Good luck.
