Best day moisturiser for 30-something skin?

Combination skin, with some acne + some fine lines starting to appear. What's the best moisturiser? Or any other skincare products I should be using?

I’m mid 30’s with combination dry and acne-prone skin. My favourite moisturiser is Clinique dramatically different. Though I have to say, what probably made the most difference to me is a tretinoin prescription from Dermatica - acne has completely cleared and skin is generally moist and healthy without being oily.

I agree with the above poster, have a look at prescription tretinoin, it is the only ingredient that has decades of clinical research behind it, and has proven to improve skin. But it's only available on prescription because it's basically medication in cream form. (If you are in the UK, you can get it from subscription services Skin & Me or Dermatica)

If you want over the counter versions, retinol is a good place to start but not very strong. Basically a very watered down version of tretinoin.
Or you could try Differin gel, which you can get in pharmacies - it's another milder version similar to tretinoin which is supposed to be good for acne.

Don't bother with expensive brands, you are basically paying for the packaging and brand names. Look for active ingredients that actually do something.

tretinoin is definitely on my list - but don't think I can use it till I'm done being pregnant/breastfeeding

Hi OP
I'm in my mid-30s and really sorting out my skincare routine. I'm no expert but I'm finding using Nivea Soft as a base moisturiser then SPF 50+ in the day, plus a anti-aging night cream is doing my skin absolutely wonders. I wash with mild water and a facial soap/wash, and use an exfoliating brush a couple of times a week. A few people have recently commented on how good/young I look 😵

A few years ago, I cut my meat and diary consumption down massively and it did absolutely wonders for my skin. I had acne which was mostly hormonal - cutting back on the hormones I was ingesting from meat and dairy was an absolute game-changer.

Obviously make sure you're drinking plenty of water too, not drinking too much alcohol, keeping refined sugar to a minimum, not smoking, and getting as much sleep as possible.

Yes, definitely avoid if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
And if/ when you are starting go slowly - I know we all want instant results, but it is a long term solution. You are better off going slowly and building up tolerance and using it correctly.

La Roche Posay do a routine that is super good for acne prone skin!

I also have heard good things about Dermalogica.

I'm a fan of Body Shop - Vitamin C glow boosting cream or Drops of Youth. I'm not a fan of thick creams and these are nice and light. I think with skincare it's really about trial and error and finding out what suits your skin.

Cerave facial moisturizer with SPF.
Affordable and really lovely. Have noticed a difference in the year I've been using it.

Yep, I use Avon Reversalift It's not greasy at all, smells lovely and is doing the trick Smile

I use the Glossier priming moisturiser and I love it. Switched to something else recently and couldn’t settle, so moved back again.

Go for cerave day spf50. Honestly. Ceramides and high spf, and reasonably priced too.
