Best Rosacea Products

Can anyone recommend the best products they have found to help combat rosacea? I don't have it really badly but it's enough that I feel really self conscious about my skin.

Currently I am using Alumier products. Which are nice products but incredibly expensive (for me). I'm not 100% sure if they are making enough of a difference to justify the prices to be honest.

Looking for products and makeup people find works well please?

Thanks :)

There have been a few similar threads on this topic recently.

I have diagnosed rosacea. Use very gentle, simple, unfragranced products such as La Roche Posay or Avène, both inexpensive and widely available.

Use an SPF daily. I like Isdin 100+ and if I want tinted coverage with SPF, Biarritz is very good and is available in three shades.

If you can afford it, try laser treatment in the winter months. It has completely stopped my face flushing. For a topical treatment, Soolantra is very effective but doesn't work for everyone and it's prescription only.

@Homewardbound2022 apologies I didn't even think to search for previous threads 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Thank you so much for your advice. Really helpful. Can I ask what your daily skincare routine is? There are so many different products out there it is hard to know which is best, which are not necessary etc. I have used Roche Posay in the past so may revisit.

No worries. It was just to say that lots of good advice was shared on one or two other threads which you might find useful.

My own routine is very simple! Less is more.
Splash face with cool water or occasionally use a gentle foam wash.
Pat face dry, gently.

I use a little Avène or CeraVe moisturiser (both with SPF) on face, neck and chest. If I'm going to be out for the day, slap on SPF. Those containing zinc are very soothing and can reduce redness.

I always cleanse with Toleraine (LRP), recommended by my dermatologist.
Rarely use anything after cleansing, maybe an eye cream.

I have regular laser in winter, about once a month from Oct to March/April.

If I notice any bumps on cheeks or hairline, this is probably a recurrence of Demodex mites, so I'll use Soolantra for a few nights running to annihilate the critters.

I've had rosacea diagnosed by a dermatologist and this is what they recommended.

AM - CeraVe hydrating cleanser, Soolantra (on prescription), LRP Toleriane moisturiser, LRP Toleriane SPF / Jan Marini physical protectant SPF

PM - micellar water to remove makeup, CeraVe hydrating cleanser, Skinoren (azelaic acid, on prescription), Toleriane moisturiser

In general, I was told to keep things as simple as possible and not use anything that might irritate sensitive skin. Everything I use is fairly inexpensive (aside from the Jan Marini which is a bit pricier). LRP Toleriane, CeraVe and Avene were all brands that my derm recommended.

I've also heard good things about laser treatments, but I haven't gotten that far yet (diagnosed ~9 months ago and derm wanted to give the above routine time before going in for laser).

Following with interest. I developed rosacea about a year ago. I’m mid 40s and had clear skin until then. I’ve stuck to a simple routine and been using azaelic acid for a few months with no effect whatsoever, so considering soolantra. Can you only get it from a Dermatologist? My budget doesn’t stretch that far unfortunately….

1On the advice of someone who refused to sell me any of his many skin care products, i used lemon and warm water as after washing, and then applied black seed oil. That got rid of it completely and it's not returned since. I suppose I'll never know if it cleared up by itself, or that treatment worked, but it's not expensive so maybe worth a try? I still find oil (black seed, olive, sesame or mustard) the best mosituriser for my skin type.
I still have quite red tones to my skin, and made the recent discovered that sun tan lotion containing zinc tones it down well!

You can buy it from online pharmacies, if you're open to that.

The Independent Pharmacy have it for £45, for example, and it'd be worth checking other places too. You usually just fill in a consultation form online, they check it's suitable before prescribing and posting it out.
