Number 1 hair curling product recommendation?

I have seen so many videos on SM of before and after photos of people with wavy hair when wet putting products in and drying in a particular way then ending up with lovely tight curls. Someone please tell me how?

I have wavy/curly hair when wet. It dries straight in this country (on holiday somewhere hot, I usually have curly hair - it just dries curlier naturally).

I have invested in products that don’t work. I have invested in a diffuser which also doesn’t work for me (perhaps I’m doing it wrong?) but I don’t want frizzy hair. I know they say to slap on products and scrunch it in when wet and not to towel dry. So are you supposed to leave hair dripping? I have a lot of hair, it would take forever to dry naturally. Scrunching also makes my hair frizzy. Please help!

Maybe get a perm???

This IMO is the best product for curly hair and I've tried loads but I always go back to this. Wrap your hair in a towel for a while so it's not dripping wet then put a good dose of this and wrap back up for an hour or so and then let it air dry.

it very much depends how thick//fine your hair is

I find Ouai fine hair shampoo & comditioel and curl spray works for me (bought after MN recommendation - and expensive but works so well). I use wide toothed comb with my head upside down in the shower - 'plop' with a t-shirt - never use a towel - and a small spritz of curl spray and leave to dry naturally.

I have coarse thick hair. I wash in co-wash, dunk it in a bucket and squeeze it out and then scrunch orange marmalade gel in and let it air dry. Works every time. A little goes a long way. I wrap a microfibre towel round my hair for 5 mins and then scrunch it a bit dry and leave it alone. It only frizzes if you keep touching it.

Oh sorry @polka6 I don't know where the link went www.amazon.co.uk/Wella-Shockwaves-Curls-Waves-Mousse/dp/B002E2LNC6

Thanks both! I quite like the look of that @MadMadMadamMim , I wish it wasn't £50 for free delivery. Do you mind me asking what type of hair you've got?

Any shampoo/conditioner recommendations?

I've got quite thick, wavy hair - this gives me more curl. I don't use shampoo as I'm avoiding sulphates on my hair. I use this coconut co-wash from Amazon roughly every three day - it's called As I Am and it's brilliant. In between co washing I do literally just dunk it in a bucket and squeeze out.

I have wavy/ curly hair and very prone to frizz!

Another vote for the as I am coconut cowash, I've tried lots since embracing my curls and it is by far my favourite and not overly expensive.

I then condition with cantu avocado conditioner.

Then, straight out of the shower so hair is dripping wet, use either the cantu curl custard or cantu avocado cream. Scrunch up from the bottom and don't hold back on the product. It will feel heavy and crisp as it dries!

Then I sleep on it and in the morning the crispness is gone and curls are neat. Occasionally needs smoothing some parts down with wet hands to "refresh".

I have thick and wavy/curly hair and use cantu custard when my hair is dripping wet and then wrap it in a microfibre towel and the cantu curl reviver in between washes. The cantu products are all on offer in Boots just now!

I'm between two homes at the moment, at my house I have noughty which is brilliant, at mil's I have frizz ease which is OK .

Only Curls, fantastic stuff.

Timide · 03/08/2022 22:10

Could you share a picture of your hair op? Like the type of curls you get

Greenstar22 · 04/08/2022 09:14

I've tried everything, best surprisingly is wella shock hair gel

DoingJustFine · 04/08/2022 09:40

I've tried everything. I have wavy hair that runs the gamut from frizzy to curly. I keep coming back to John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Air-Dry Styling Foam. It's SO good. Put 4-5 pumps through wet hair, then dry, scrunch or just leave it to air dry. The curls are bouncy and last all day.

Sometimes I scrunch it through wet hair, dry the front, then twist the rest up to dry naturally. When I take it down later it's SUPER SUPER curly.

For shampoo and conditioner, I love the Faith In Nature stuff from Holland & Barrett (and Amazon). Leaves my coarse hair feeling sooooooooo soft.
